A taste of the new nokia.com - Join us in defining the new vision
Thu, 2010-07-01 14:51The first stage of the renewal of nokia.com is in beta. As you can imagine, this is a big task for Nokia but we are incredibly excited to share this with you and hear your thoughts.
As always, beta means that this is our baseline for the future and we still have lots of work to do. For one, we are lacking support & software pages. Content within the product & service pages is at a bare minimum, but as you can see and judge, we have a renewed look and we like it.
In a few months when we launch the complete site to Ireland, there will be much more content, all areas of the site will exist but for now, we are looking for your initial input. Additional projects are underway to improve the future of the Nokia search platform and metadata models to give you the best and most accurate results to your search queries but once again, these things take time.
Now we’re looking to strike up some interesting discussions with you, the Nokia Beta Labs community. Not about pixel issues, browser issues or lack of content & imagery, but what are your thoughts overall both from a conceptual, strategic, creative & technical perspective? Please be open and constructive.
The more interesting your comments are, the more we will try to bring some thoughts and answers to the table. And feel free to throw in suggestions about what you think the future should be for Nokia.com.

I think that you think a lot for people with big screens (like me) so you can see lots of withe spaces. Maybe you have to think a little more about people with little screens because remember that is the main public of nokia.
greetings from Argentina :)

Good point Maccur.
Any way, I am loving the new design!

It would be better if the design meets a wide screens
Why the .ie site is the first one? beta.nokia.com gives the redhat Apache message:)
I like the simplistic yet functional design.
To be honest, I;m in two minds about the beta site. In some ways it seems too simple and as a resault looks like a site developed by Joe Bloggs on something like Wordpress' servers. Apologies if this appears a little harsh, but the top banner seems too simple for me and the remainig parts of the page appear like fixed location modules the user has been able to select.

I liked the news feed and the interactive 'rating' button because they add life to the place. I think it is important that when one visits the site, it seems 'alive', like a marketplace where stuff happens, and not just a dead storefront.
To promote the marketplace feel even more, I would add much more interactive stuff, for example a possibility to rate and comment on the phones and other nokia products, a live 'feedback' chat where people could express their thoughts and wishes about Nokia stuff. The risk would be that negative feedback would dominate, but I think it would be a risk worth taking.
I clicked on this site a few weeks ago and consequently spent the next 10 minutes or so reading the news articles!
The news is a nice touch.
I don't like the big clunky drop-down menu on the "Products and Services" tab. Perhaps a smooth transition or make it slightly see-through or something. I guess you are going to change that anyway?
Apart from that the website did draw me in to have a look around.
I like it better than the 50 different clickable sections on the current nokia website... I always feel like I have to study that website to find what I want and I leave it knowing that I've missed something that I probably wanted to look at. On the old website there are a heap of clickable links at the top, then the larger and smaller clickable pictures in the middle and then all of those clickable words at the bottom.... too much too work out.
Just my opinion.
Nokia 6720 classic
I like the new Nokia.com because it is kept as simple as possible. When I try to browse using Nokia 5800, I feel it is much more user friendly than the original Nokia.com.

I visited the new website with my Nokia N97 mini... If I go on the Products and Ovi Service page Flash Player is needed...
I can't navigate on the Nokia website with my Nokia Smartphone ! That's incredible.
I like the design, very simply and elegant but +1 with mbrett top banner too simple.
To be honest, I think design could be better... It's not bad, but I prefer current site design. Ovi services have a nice attractive website, maybe more like it. This looks a little bland IMO.
I really don't care about the new site, the old one was good enough. I really wish Nokia would spend time fixing what's really wrong with the online user experience: Ovi store is terrible (I had to log in for each program about the Wordl cup that I wanted to download and try, 8 of them), Ovi contacts can't synchronize properly (I got double contacts twice, so now I stopped using it), my sms messages were wrongly restored, Ovi maps in my area are outdated more than 1 year,... Who cares about a new web site when the whole service is breaking down!
This is not just me, these complaints are all over the internet for at least 6 months (ever since I started using a Nokia+Symbian device). And don't get me talking about the terrible quality control on Symbian software (my 5800 can't use the radio properly in the last 2 firmwares)...
I love the new design! Very minimalist. Nokia, why don't you try making a virtual phone simulator? Just like Sony Ericsson does on its website, so that consumers may feel the phone before buying it.

new website still doesn't connect people.
But yes, it looks fine. Should have the newest features on the homepage so people know what to use or download.

Good one.
Why is it so slooow (at least some pages, like the Home page), or is it just me? Is it really so difficult/expensive for Nokia to run speedy beta stuff -> you would get much more "quality feedback" if you didn't ruin the experience right in the beginning (I bet many people give up).
So, I recommend to make it fast at day 1, and then don't let any new features to destroy the performance. And if the slowness is due to limited HW capacity, then you should definitely re-think your cost saving allocations...
just add some artwork at the background of the page..........
faizrasool very nice service
i dont know but i think nokia all application is better
