Conversation experimental beta trial closed
Fri, 2010-07-23 12:02Conversation was released at Nokia Beta Labs in November 2007 as an experimental prototype for organizing your messages into streams according to contact. It immediately proved to be popular and continued to get a steady amount of interest and feedback over time.
The team added support for more devices and then more after that, although - as was noted - the intention was more to pilot this kind of messaging experience rather than productize this as a stand-alone application. Since this beta trial began, a Conversation-like messaging experience can already be seen in Ovi Suite, in Maemo/Nokia N900, and in the forthcoming Nokia N8. (See the video below @1:54-@3:12 for a preview of what it will look like.)
Given that development of the standalone app has virtually ended, though, we feel it's time to close the Conversation experimental beta trial. Keeping a trial and forum open without matching levels of development and feedback responsiveness would be doing a disservice to you.
Thanks for your support and contribution to this trial, and apologies for any disappointment this causes.

I can not begin to describe how much of an up yours this feels like..
I've scratched my head a few times wondering why on earth you didn't make this app for the 5ed phones, it was one of my most beloved betalabs products on my n95... I know betalabs is for testing, and was fine with that, buy I didn't realise it had been made for maemo, and now your saying something like it is coming on the n8..... - that's just a big up yours to all of us who bought the n97 upon it's relase.. Thanks a lot!

thats the exact feelings here
The moment you buy a nokia phone, you are at the mercy of 3rd party developers for apps... Very Disappointed...
well, it was sorta clean up process because there is absolutely no threaded sms view by default in nokia phones except for some new ones like x3, n8, n900.. It was terrible that there wasnt even a single native app untill free Isms was out. 'conversations' was a big hope. It sent a message that nokia would atleast introduce a native app for threaded view. Instead of developing it further and expanding support to all the nokia devices, ending the 'trial' seems unfair. Its about time the engineers/developers wake up @betalabs.
cant nokia just release an app for symbian S60 5th edition? i mean after closing the beta mode we cant use it no more!? damn :(
i wait for all this time to hear this? yet another slap in the face of nokia faithful. is it any wonder that nokia market share decrease day after day when decisions like this being made? just one app the people want more than any other and you don't deliver...
Very disappointing. Terrible move on Nokia’s part. No continuity - ust buy a new phone! It’s that easy! N8 is around the corner after all!
Right, I've been watching this spot for quite a while here.
Nokia has fast become the only set of phones without threaded messaging, I, with all my might, despise Iphones, but they have threaded messaging which actually makes me jealous of their users.
I've had the top of the range Nokia every year spending thousands of euro buying the top end Nokias. Now I want to move to Android operating system phones, most like the HTC brand. The 32GB N97 is the last Nokia I'm going to by.
I'm upset
It's a shame
¿Quiere decir entonces que los usuarios cuyos dispositivos utilizan Symbian 3rd Edition quedamos por fuera? This is a big fail.
Baby love! My forrevere .
Dissapointed i missed out as i brought this phone from Vodafone NZ and missed this beta, i hope that it does get intergrated in to the next firmware update for Nokia Mini and phones alike. I have the same feeling like the 1st comment posted.
To this very day (15 Oct 2010) Conversation is the app I use the MOST on my N81. I skipped the 5th ed. devices [so I've been looking at the N8 but I might just wait and see how MeeGo is]
If my phone didn't support Conversation I'd be very unhappy so I sympathise with 5th ed. users on this thread.
If Nokia is listening THIS SHOULD BE RELEASED FOR ALL POSSIBLE PHONES - PLEASE!!!
Don't just limit this *basic* functionality to beta and N900+, N8+. Bring it back for all the customers who will then buy Nokia again.
Well, good to hear about 'Conversation'. It's very good one, but some modifications might be expecting. Well, The beta trial is closed, but what about the real version. I found this in N8 (in-built) & N86 (available as separate application, described in software update too). I also tried in N82 (the beta trial version). But it's not working in E52. Isn't it available for E52 ? Also, how can update the version installed in N82....
Thanks to Beta Labs team....
Best wishes....
simply a shame!
I used this app on every device. It was the real must have.
I cannot understand nokia's decision.
Let's take focus on other brands!
wtf?! I have been waiting for this popular beta product to mature as a full fledged app and now Nokia ditches all of us with "a Conversation-like messaging experience can already be seen in Ovi Suite, in Maemo/Nokia N900, and in the forthcoming Nokia N8" crap. What about the millions of poor souls who use S60 5th and 3rd edition phones? Way to go Nokia..!
