Swype – Text input for screens
Wed, 2010-09-01 14:59Swype provides a faster and easier way to input text on any screen. With one continuous finger or stylus motion across the screen keyboard, the patented technology enables users to input words faster and easier than other data input methods—at over 40 words per minute. The application is designed to work across a variety of devices such as phones, tablets, game consoles, kiosks, televisions, virtual screens and more.
Swype and Nokia have been hard at work to deliver a limited beta release to Nokia S60 5th edition device owners. Your feedback will be valuable to us in the coming weeks, and we are especially interested in how well Swype interfaces with the many types of applications you use every day. While you’re at it, feel free to take a crack at the world record, which was recently broken (again!) with Swype.
Swype is currently supported on the Nokia N97, N97mini, X6, 5800, and 5230. Over the coming months Swype will be expanding to a wider range of devices as part of ongoing development so stay tuned.
Check out the official Swype for Symbian page for download information as well as Swypeinc.com for news, tips and instructional videos.
Happy Swyping!

This is cool
VERY NICE!!!
But...
1) It does not support Italian, I believe
2) It does not give any hints why the swype keyboard does not appears. After ten reboots, I swiched my writing language from Italian to English and the keyboard was changed.
Sounds like a new opportunity to test a beta software which will be released only to newer platforms like S^3 when it's ready ;)
How to download it ?
Is there another download link??
I cannot download it.
Is it working in Pakistan???
SAtioo?
Shame this is not for the N8 as well - hopefully it will come soon. And if anyone thinks they might install this version - DON'T it does not work and will freeze the device

works great,
only in englisch, but I can abuse this for onscreen keyboard wich the N97 doesn't have.
The phone is responding a little slow while swype is enabled
I'm using swype to type this message!
Where can I report bugs? If you hold down a letter until a number appears and then attempt to swype to it, it'll crash your whatever-application.
I was pleasantly surprised to see how well this works...flawless! Hopefully will be on the N8 from the gitgo
Nice tool to write up things quickly. Great work!
Some comments:
I also felt that my phone (Nokia XM 5800) was a bit slower with swype installed.
The navigation with the the left/right buttons of the large (wide) swype keyboard seems to be buggy. If I use left/right buttons on the keyboard to navigate somewhere in the text and remove a letter with backspace, it removes the letter at the location where the cursor was located before.
If I go to that location directly using the touchscreen it works.
I could also reproduce the bug with typing numbers (by holding). It crashed the application. After restarting the app swype wasnt available anymore.
In addition it would be nice, if one could easily switch on/off swype during typing (without reboot and easily accessible in the menu).
Are you also working on different input methods?
Can't get this thing working. Installed it and restarted my phone, but nothing happens when I'm trying to type the message body of my SMS. Phone is X6...
I have the v21.0.004 fw, but Swype isn't available when I use landscape mode either.
Just what was wanted, now we nokia users can also use swype. thanks nokia!!
working perfectly in my nokia c6, best compensation for the lack of on screen keyboard in nokia c6 like the nokia n97. hopefully that nokia will release the final version for s60v5 or symbian 1 as well. highly recommended
beta test on s^1 --> final release on s^3
thanks, nokia
i would like to have it on my maemo but i know
it will never be possible
I'd install it, but you'll probably get rid of it in a few months and say "Thanks for the research input so we can integrate it in a NEW phone!"
it is a little slow, speed needs to increase. There are lags when using it.
It works well on my 5800 but like others have said, the phone lags a little even with this app set for maximum speed. I guess with lots of use you could get fast typing speed but I found it made no improvement to my typing speed as I am very fast with keypad predictive text. It would be better if this could be turned on/off without reboot.
Works fine on the Nokia X6 16 GB
its cool.working f9
Bi problem fo me is the lack of Copy and Paste. These are staples for Nokia devices. Please add this to the interface. This is the only reason I can see myself returning to the standard alpha-numeric interface. Other wise I would be sticking with Swipe.

auto capitalization will not work until the 3rd letter.
it uses vibration too much, drains my battery quickly.
need to switchback to original qwerty..
@eiram41710: If you go into settings you can turn vibration off. (Just tap on the three horizontal lines key and select settings, or go the the settings app on your phone.)
Also I take back my previous complaint about the lack of Copy & Paste as after a little more reading and playing I've found it now and much more. :-)

I Like the app. The only thing i need to say about a lot of these beta applications is that there is a lag of languages to use.
This application is nice for trying but in my case not ready to use in the all day use. For your info i'm dutch.
Pues calemoslo aver que tal va en mi 5800, :D
need russian input mode please tell me
I need russian and ukrainian language? When will they be?

In case you are skilled with the N 97 physical keyboard, is it possible to use the Swype keyboard as a standard qwerty keyboard in place of the annoying alpha numeric keyboard, avoiding the "swyping" action?
good idea but my N97 just gets all flustered and locks up at the sight of swype ,I just cant seem to get it to go you type or swype 2 or 3 letters onto the app and it freezes thinks about it for a few seconds then capitulates . What a surrender monkey lol . I like the idea but the phone just cant hack it . Spock99
Finally, makes life a lot more easier but a little slow to respond to touch. I really hated the X6 because of the terrible UI, its pathetic. The Nokia's browser is horrible hate to browse on the phone.
Next looking for a nice browsing experience which is both simple to use and intuitive.
really a cool app i like it. only its a liite slow in processing..initially ofcourse u r not used to it but after sometimes it feels gr8 to have this
gogo904@ovi.com

Hello ! i have installed in my N8 the Leaked Symbian Anna. In this version, swype dont work in split screen, but the inbuilt keyboard work fine. There are another version of Swype with Split support?
PS: Sorry for my poor english.. :D
@frankie_76 - I think you know what our answer will be: please wait for the official Symbian Anna release before asking for support (available by end of August according to http://conversations.nokia.com/2011/06/21/symbian-anna-available-startin...)
John - Community Facilitator @ Beta Labs
