Beta Labs highlights from Nokia World
Thu, 2010-09-16 10:23Although the Nokia World 2010 event is over, hopefully the excitement of the news, discussion, and connections made there continues. If you want to review what happened there, check out the Nokia World 2010 and Nokia Developer Summit 2010 sites. There you'll also find webcasts of the keynote presentations.
Here are a few highlights that I thought might be relevant for the Nokia Beta Labs community.
The latest beta release of Ovi Maps for mobile mentioned at Nokia World received some coverage in at least the following sites:
Übergizmo: Nokia Ovi Maps Updated With Traffic, Public Transportation, And Check-ins
All About Symbian: Ovi Maps hits v3.6 - in beta, though
ReadWriteWeb: Nokia Launches Check-ins on Ovi Maps, Takes Location and Privacy Seriously
Boy Genius Report: Nokia updating Ovi Maps with traffic, public transportation, and check-ins
The Next Web: Nokia adds social check-ins to Ovi Maps. Facebook, Twitter but no Foursquare
MobileCrunch: New beta version of Nokia Maps brings Check-ins, karaoke
By the way, the Symbian^3 version of Ovi Maps for mobile is also now available for download for those lucky ones that have their hands on a Nokia N8.
Mary McDowell used the Ovi Browser Beta as an example in her keynote presentation on September 15.
The Ovi Blog also ran a piece on the forthcoming update to Wellness Diary we mentioned earlier and the team was present at one of the event stands.
And here's a nice video talking about the Make My App competition and hackathon we posted about on this blog when it was launched. The Face Recognition Based Device Locks app was the winner of the judges' and people award, but we congratulate all the finalists for their participation in this co-creation activity.
