Swype for Symbian update for S60 5th Edition plus more languages

If you've been trying out Swype for Symbian on an S60 5th Edition phone, then you'll be happy to know that there's a new version (v1.0.16481) available today.

Here's what the team had to say:

"Thanks in no small part to your feedback on the previous beta releases, we are now happy to bring you a release candidate of Swype for S60 5th Edition phones. This is currently on its way to final quality testing for Ovi Store, and we wanted you testers to have first crack at it.

An awful lot of changes have been made to the application since the last update, not the least of which is better support for language downloads and language performance improvements. You'll also find the Copy and Paste now appear in the Settings menu as well as the Edit Layer, and a lot of bugs have been quashed.

Please let us know immediately if you find anything that you would consider a show-stopper. Also let us know about the minor issues, of course."

Additionally, several new language packs have been published over the past week for use on any device running Swype (from Nokia Beta Labs or Ovi Store). This makes the current list of available languages:

Yes, its true. After using Swype, it is definitely not possible to get back to normal tapping mode.

You say that swype works with Symbian S60 5th edition phones, right?
But I've seen a list of phones it works with, but there is no Nokia 5530.
So does the swype work with the phone or not?

So far so good!
Hope for Simplified Chinese (PinYin) for Swype.

Since I type using tap than Swype so the biggest thing of this update for me is cut and paste in menu which is very good!

@ducbang197 bạn là người việt à. bạn nên xóa toàn bộ bản cũ đi rồi reset lại
sau đó nếu máy của bạn chưa hack phone thì nên hạck đi hoặc sign đi rồi mới cài nha. mà n97 có full qwerty thì cài cái này làm gì ;))

trước đến giờ phần mềm nokia cung cấp có bao giờ phải sign đâu,mà mình cũng thử sign rồi nhưng vô ích, trước khi cài mình cũng đã xóa bản cũ rồi mà,ko hiểu sao nữa :|

@krnrdstrm - If you have Nokia 5530 XpressMusic in your Beta Labs profile then you should see the download instructions for it. There may have been a problem on our site earlier, but now it's working.

SCREEN ROTATION WAS NOT WORKING after installation and rebooting of this swype's latest release candidate version, on my NOKIA 5235 phone. Though motion gaming was working fine.

Screen rotation started working again after uninstallation of swype.

Arabic, Turkish, and Hebrew are now available.

And there's also an updated installer for S60 5th Edition phones to resolve certificate issues some people encountered.

Its a very good application. The only trouble i find is that I can't paste copied words very quickly. Sentences or paragraphs takes ages.
The latest version has some problems in copying text (especially while using opera mini symbian). I request the devs to see it through.

I would like to put forth a request to the developers. The thing is I don't do swyping. I just tap on the alphabets to write. So my request is, please put an additional option that disables the swype functionality but keeps the keyboard intact. This way the application will be faster 10 folds for those who don't swype. And believe me, 90% people don't like swyping. But the keyboard layout and its functionalities as a standalone qwerty keyboard is unmatched. And I am very grateful for that.

Excellent app, love it.. Just one feature request.. any plans to add Swype to the Lock-screen? My company enforces the "Lotus Traveler Security enablement library SIS-file" which requires a 8 alpha-num. char. password, after idle for 30 minutes.
Swyping the pw whould save me a lot of time..

Theimmortal, this version is not for N8, only for Symbian 5th.
Symbian^3's version is on Ovi Store, and an update should come this week on Beta Labs.

Got back my phone from service today. Was psyched when I had time to get to know my phone again, Swype looked amazing. Then after installing the language pack for Swedish the settings for Swype refused to start. It does that whole "think think - nothing." shit you know? The red thing shows up, it does its thinking thing, then it does the animation like an application CLOSES and nothing. Swype is still the default input and English is still the default dictionary, I can't find any Swedish words in it.

Unfortunately you are right, the beta has been taken down. Swype has been released with the build in languages and nine additional language packs. For other previously available languages look here for known workarounds:
