Nokia Big Screen now available in Ovi Store

Nokia Big Screen has reached new milestone and is now available for free in Ovi Store.

Thanks for your comments and feedback in helping us to make our software better!

The Nokia Big Screen story doesn’t end here for Nokia Beta Labs, however. You've given us many requests, for example, around wireless sharing over wifi, TV out and how to better control music. What I can say at this stage is that we are working on new stuff which I’m quite excited about. So stay tuned to find out what we’ll have in pipeline to be launched here in the next couple of months.

Only got to try this out recently and must say it's a cool app. Just wish it was compatible with the X-box 360 remote control and also that it was possible to use Big Screen through the jack socket on other phones than the N8 (like the C7).

I support the suggestion of making it also for C7 and C6-01 when using the jack cable, it would be really nice!
Maybe it would use a lower resolution on TV because of the absence of HDMI, I don't know about these technical issues and I hope it could mantain the present one, but it would be a good innovation even in that case!

I still think this is THE killer app for the N8, turning it into the most versatile and compact media player in the market. With the flourishing of HDMI capable TVs, and digital media, the N8 with its capabilities fits into a niche in the market that no other device can...DLNA/upnp client/server functionality would also bring this wonderful app a serious edge.
For example, yesterday I played a 720p .mkv encoded movie from my N8 with .srt spanish subtitles without a glitch, but what if I could have played such a file wirelessly from my DLNA home server???

I'll sure keep visiting the betalabs site to see the developing of this great idea.

Recently I purchased a Samsung HDTV, and last night I installed Nokia Big Screen on my N8 and connected it to my TV with HDMI cable..
After few second, only one word came out of my mouth.. "WOW"...

Best application I used so far, after using it for couple of hours, I decided not to buy music system..why should I?

I love my N8, and really feel proud to have one.. :)

DLNA / UPnP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Big Screen is a amazing app and I really love to browse my media from my 100" projector.
But why DLNA / UPnP application hasn't been published yet from Nokia??

I would really like to see a dedicated "push" application where I could easily share my high quality pics and vids that I have taken with my N8. DLNA media server would be also more than welcome ;)

Also Big Screen could have DLNA renderer and control point capabilities so that you could easily play movies from LAN (e.g. Network-attached storage) via Big Screen.

S60 3.1 had these features already! These kind of features makes the difference -- Symbian vs. Android..
