New version of Nokia Social app (1.3) now available in beta

Hello everyone!
We wanted to let you know that the newest version of the Social application, version 1.3, is available to download from Nokia Beta Labs. Click on the Download link to install the new Social application and give it a test run.
Here are a few of the great new things you can do;
Staying connected just got easier
- See your friends’ status updates right from their Contacts Card—now you can see what friends are up to before you make a phone call.
- From the Social application, a Linked Contacts indicator enables you to see which friends' Contacts Cards are linked. Now you can manage your social networks more efficiently. No need to sync all your Social contacts at once, just pick and chose your closest friends and always know what they are up to.
Share your moment through photos
- Add captions when sharing pictures from your camera to bring your photos to life.
- Higher resolution picture upload—up to 4 MB—so what you share is clear and sharp.

Actually I got some the same features (RT and photo sharing) of this Social App from the previous final version 1.3.143 that I've been using since last month.
I think you just listed some those new features above again. And there are no big changes to the app but with fixes and this integrated Social app to contact cards and so on. Am I right?
They are listing features that are new since 1.2. There are also bug fixes present for issues that were the reason for pulling 1.3 originally.

Instalation end with error massage: Cant delete file.

SOLVED: uninstall old version and restart phone. After instalation phone restared automatically. Work like a charm.
Still no icon for notification in facebook?

Ya la probe y me parece mas rapida, ademas que me deja compartir fotos de la galeria, cosas que antes no pasaba, en general cambios menores pero buenos.
Deberian integrar ahi tambien el foursquare!

why is so hard for you to remember s60 devices? There was a social beta client for s60v5 and stopped working, why don't you finish it? There are some people in the world that cannot buy a brand new N8
The software on my C7 is perfectly installed
but i am not able to us Socail through mt Wap access point ???
Its showing No network available even though when i can browser the wb through thge same access point.
PS I am unable to use the Internet(GPRS) Access pt due to some fault of service provider.

Facebook notifications is the most important feature that is missing.
I don't know if you've received my suggestions and a bug forwarded from Nokia UK Care support for escalation, but you should know about the following:
1. Facebook notifications - Facebook without notifications is not Facebook. It's like email without knowing you got email, a response, or answer. Including its widget - at least just a small red dot or a static number in the corner.
2. I cannot Like comments
3. BUG!!! Social widget cannot be switched to offline mode along the other widgets on the homescreen when I switch widgets to offline. It's still online and it wastes battery.
The above is how it works in 1.3.143. Just now I installed build 189 and it seems not to have been resolved, especially offline-mode widget must be a big concern!!! Then I will find Social usable.

still no notifications , still the upload size for images is massive big i upload two pics the data counts for 4 mb thats quite big on 3g cellular service , why cant u auto scale for say 800x600 so the pics size uploaded is small and faster, still can't open pages just profiles, still cant share any post, still cant like my comments , still takes ages to open pics,,,,, it need so so much improvements , please listen to us
I don't know if I'm the only one who can't manage to upload photos from my gallery. It just says uploading started then connects to the net. After a few kbs of uploading and downloading, it disconnects. Tried it through both wifi and gprs and still no luck. Tried it both through the share photo interface in social and the gallery, but no dice.
Hope someone can help me.
Btw, social has been behaving like this for me since 1.3.143.
I have an n8 running on pr1.2 with qt4.7.2.
finally an update that installs the home screen widget. Which was lost after the last update. How comes some of you talkin about p1.2. My n8 is only on pr1.0 and ovi suite says there no update for my phone. any help.
Hi. When attempting to install it says "unable to delete file" and cancels the installation. Any ideas?
I love the "sharing pictures" part, it's very convenient.
But it's so when opening the application..! I would rather use the mobile web for opening facebook/twitter...
Very good work but more than these features people are more concern about
1)notifications,
2)chat,
3)like comments,
4)contacts sync,
5)finally some notification on home screen widget when a message,notification is received
..these are very essential features for a facebook user..So i would hope to hear from you people to get next update with these requirements.

bubbles killed my social and battery monitor programs and they dont work last 2 months. i hope you can fix that problem
I am a nokia 5800 user. Now nokia is not concentrating in 5th edition phones. I am very much depressed because i bought 5800 which runs in 5th edition os. I paid lot of money to get this phone. If i have that amount of money now, i can get an nokia N8 with some more rupees extra. I think i have made a mistake.

hi beta labs,second time writing this, as phone shut down again not bad for a 3 week old flagship phone :-(,you have pakaged a lovely a fantastic camera,good mapping,a brilliant hdmi port,but if the software sucks,it is a shame it is so slow at actually using it as a phone compared to the iphone4 or one of the Htc phones, this could be my last,nokia ,give us some updates please so it can keep up with other brands of phones ,on this add on it actually works quite well ,regards jon alexander
i think nokia is focused only in developing for the new symbian 3 devices... sad reality it's all about money. no more support for s60 5th ed anymore. i realised they are killing the apps for older devices. chat... social... no release.

But it still does not work ... There is always the same message:
"Sorry, please unistall and reinstall Communities"...

Hi betalabs, install on N8, no problem. But in my Contacts Card, only one friends status updates shows, and not in the rest, have any idea why?
Warning If you install BUBBLES your most likely to kill social network and the only way i fixed it was i had backed up my phone before running any beta's first!.

I tried installing new social app using software update in my Nokia E7. It shows successfully installed message. But when application opens, it automatically get closed on loading screen itself.
When tried installing from OVI store, sometimes it shows error in downloading, sometimes it shows installation error.
Anybody can help me on this? Thanks in advance

As an enhacement:
It would be very brilliant if in the next version there would be notifications for facebook and notification for twitter, when somebody answers to your tweet, when you have a new DM etc.
I think this is what really is missing in the nokia social app. In other apps such fMobi or Gravity these function are implemented.
as far as i know i have the nokia social app on my Nokia N8 but cant send photo's str8 to facebook.is there a setting i have to have to enable this feature ??
I'm sharing with you my comments about the actual social that comes from this beta.
- Social have no interface to upload video. I have an HD video of less than 1 minute lenght but this exeed the maximum size that can be upload by the camera app (10 MB ahah) my video size is 54 MB.
- With the new version of social I see only updates of state and new posts in the main screen, instead with the previous i could see messages notifications and friend requests in the main screen. May be more powerful if I can choose between the two views.

...and are thus no longer in Beta. But it is for S^3 only, not S60v5, S60v3 et cetera, and thus not for E63.
I have recently updated it to 1.3.237 version from my C7 mobile and have noticed that I am unable to upload pics from my cell to facebook when I am connected via WIFI however when I am connected to GPRS it works fine, Please provide a solution....I have uninstalled and installed the application several time but have not been able to fix the issue and it just with the pic uploading thing rest work fine

How to I download this
First, I think this application has enough functionality. But downsides are far greater.
How come is mandatory to integrate our own contacts? Eventhough it does a good job in matching/merging them, it uses very low resolution profile images to contacts, making caller id pixelated. I've had to re-sync my contacts, adjust duplicates and at last, I gave up.
Interface is far less than satisfying. Compared to the rest of Betalabs apps, there is too much wasted display space.
Belle interface is alot superior. Hope you'll implement a whole new UI for that software, along with ability to disable contacts linking.
Has the potential to be a good app, but needs work: NOTIFICATIONS, chat, and tagging friends in status updates would make it very useful. You can do it nokia!
