Calling all drivers! What’s your ETA? Or time left?

Hi All,

When you’re using Drive navigation, how do you like to see time information about your destination - do you prefer to show time left to travel or the time of arrival? Let us know what you think!

Best,

time to travel

Time of arrival, to know whether I will arrive on time.

Constant Updates of "time of arrival" and/or time to travel(Due to Traffic etc)

i would like to get a option to choose. Some times i like the time of arrival (longer trips) and some times i would like to know the left time (often on shorter trips)

time left.

time left to travel. I have a clock in my car, i can work out when i will get there easy enough.

But time of arival may be wrong, for example if the phone clock is wrong or destination in a different time zone.

It seems to me that ETA is best for most cases but as a single piece of information it may not be useful. As a courrier I'm often called by the office trying to find out my status. Wanting to know how far I am from drop off or pick up. They seem interested in knowing time left. I how ever like to know the ETA but having the option to toggle between information sets would be good.

Time of arrival in green, time left to travel in blue and potential delays in red... you can show all of these in the same location but switching between them every 2 seconds. Also, the possibility to "hear it" like I could hear a direction would help (by pressing time of arrival, it would tell me the ToA).

ETA
Because it's always fun to see how much I can knock off the original by the end of the journey

We grow old because we stop playing

Hello!
Are there any news about free navigation for S60 v3 devices?

Time left

Well it SHOULD be user selectable, but I use TIME LEFT at least 90% of the times.

However if you are either in a hurry, or on the contrary has to kill time before being somewhere. Say you are invited for dinner at 18:00, the eta might be helpful to adjust your speed.

What COULD be more helpful than ETA would be if you could ENTER a wanted ETA, and it could SUGGEST a speed, related to the local speed limits and registered road conditions used for planning (i.e. the road "norm"). It might calculate that you need to go 90% of the norm for the route, and where the norm is 50, it should then recommend 45. Or if 110% is needed 55.

def ETA :)

Time of arrival

Time of Arrival, with option to switch to Time Left by pressing on the screen in the display location.

Lol why not show both?

Because you want to keep the display relativly uncluttered for a driving aid,

We do not stop playing because we grow old
We grow old because we stop playing

Both should be displayed, however not simultaneously. Alternating would be the best solution, maybe with an icon to differentiate between time to travel and time of arrival.

Time left, so when i have to tell someone when i'll be there, i can say "in ___ minutes" ;)

time left and distance

In almost every case ETA but under some circumstances it is time left.

Time left to travel

I prefer estimated time of arival. But need possibility to change parameters because now real time is always ~25% later than estimated.

ETA is what I prefer to have displayed

Would be nice if we can just tap it to change it... not nice going through all those settings.

eta would be nice, a posibility to choose between both would be even better! Grts

Time of arrival but the big question I have and never tried it with my stand-alone GPS is say you cross timezones during a single trip, will the time of arrival update itself to reflect the new time of arrival?

tap the ETA display to switch to time left to travel ;)

@imnawang: garmins do that. well, at least mine does...

I prefer the ETA most often. But I could see wanting the other too, especially when I'm planning routes. Can you make a user desired default setting and tap the display to change it back and forth?

Let user to select via options or by tapping the screen.

ETA. But tap to switch for "time left" will be the best possible option.
AND ADAPTIVE SEARCH for address or place is what I'm missing most. Nothing beats the Google maps search algorithm.

.....
If at first you don't succeed... so much for skydiving

I prefer it showing "time left to travel".

I think Time left is better, it make sense in long interstate drives where time zone changes..... i think its higly personal

I prefer ETA first, if there's possibility to add travel time as well, that would be good extra.
