Camera update for Nokia N8

still capture viewfinder

Dear Nokia N8 owners,

Whether you're a serious shutterbug or an occasional snapper, we have a little something for you. We just released in Nokia Beta Labs some of the camera improvements we didn't manage to squeeze into the Symbian Anna release.

  • We tweaked the UI, to provide camera aficionados faster access to essential camera controls
  • We improved the quality of recorded videos, by cranking up the video recording speed to 30 FPS and adding the heavily requested continuous auto-focus.

We hope that these improvements will make your summer pictures and videos to look even better, enjoy!

Hugs,
Nokia Camera team

continuous auto focus not working in all modes.

continous auto-focus not working!!! sms mode in Anna too :-((

As you can understand from the written comments, cont. AF is meant only to work in close up mode.

does the update support other language, such as chinese?

this enhancement is cool but nokia n8 still lacks a major improvement of zooming capability while video recording. it has only 3x zoom for video recording despite it has a giant 12MP sensor. Nokia should implement around 20X digital zoom (not necessary for all resolutions but at least for smaller resolutions like VGAs and QVGAs) in it with real digital zoom technology. This improvement will make N8 better for a common nature and animal lovers, as any natural object may be very distant from the camera man (zoom in this situation is a crucial need). And also the shooter will be able to shoot weird animal activities standing very apart from them without bothering the simple creatures (sufficient zoom in your device is necessary). Some animals are dangerous and so the shooter won't like to get closer to them, here again the zoom is important to shoot them being apart. so please nokia, think about this improvement.

Note that a new release of this app was just published that is configured for 30fps video recording as advertised.

I really want these to be updated on my Nokia N86-8M too, but it's just a dream that never come true ! Nokia is now very quiet on S60v3 ... So sad !

si no tienes conexion wap es imposible hacer una foto, te pide constantemente k busques red, ni te pienses hacer un video

good

I installed the first version of the camera update which worked great for a few days..after a couple of days the camera would't start and just gave me an error code (system failure). Not even re-starting the phone helped so I went back to the Nokia Beta Labs page and isntalled the latest version of the camera update and now it is running smoothly again.

good

Is there a new update for touch focus on N8? It would complete (and is really useful) the camera package for this phone.

I'm not sure if "touch focus" can be added to the camera features of Nokia N8 but it will really be nice if it's possible and will be included on the updates in the future.

In my nokia n8 its not working at all...

Still, after Belle update I am not able to take the second shot in more that 2-3 seconds after the "processing image" of the first shot. Sometimes I got 5-7 seconds !!! And I unchecked the viewing image after shot. I really miss the multishot feature from my old Nokia 6710 Navigator. I know that this is available as a separate software , but it would be nice to have it integrated.

nice

I Love N8

Hi as we are not seen to be worthy enough to get Belle in Australia at this stage why wasnt this improvement released to ANNA users of the N8. NOT FAIR NOKIA..U GUYS SUCK

Hello,

I have Nokia N8 with Bell.
I"ve problem with not working AF.
Do you think that this is the reason for complaint?
