Hi all,
Nokia Maps 3.08 with Weather has graduated from Nokia Beta Labs! Thanks to your feedback, we found and fixed bugs and improved the overall user experience. This version also debuted a new installer that shows what you’re installing as it downloads, rather than installing one massive software package at once. The latest version of this installer has gone on to Nokia Maps Suite, where you get four apps in one download.
Thanks again for all your input. We always do our best to implement your suggestions and feedback wherever possible. You can find the latest version of Nokia Maps 3.08 for the Nokia 603, 700, and 701 at Nokia Store on the web or nokia.mobi on your phone. For all other Symbian^3 devices, you can get the official Nokia Maps 3.08 release via the software update on your phone or via Nokia Suite in the software update section.

@leitma82: This update is meant for S^Belle Not for Symbian Anna (C7-00). All Symbian Anna user will get through OTA Update.

my MapsVer is 3.08 from Beta Labs, OTA shows me an Update with 256 kB, but I cannot finish the Update (Error during Installation).

Tried this wrong Update a few days ago, installed then the Full of 3.08 and afterwards the 3.08 from Beta Labs with Weather. This Version works o.k.
What can I do?

There is something that's need a little correction :-]

AFAIK Nokia 600 is cancelled and Nokia 703 does not exist (there is 603) so it should be "Nokia 603, 700 and 701" there :-]

@r.taran: It's written in the blog post, that all other Symbian^3 devices get the updated version via OTA or Nokia Suite, so it should be available for Anna phones too (but it isn't, at least not for all)
I agree with leitma82, isn't available this update for Nokia C7 with ANNA by the moment.

Still not available for C7 (Anna)! It would be nice to have a release schedule!
All very good, but can't you guys come up with a basic pdf reader??
The inbuilt pdf reader on symbian anna is a joke. It can't even handle pdf with only text, let alone one with images. Please try and build one from ground up.

Update Ota with N8-00 022.014 with 1st attempt doesn't work.
Installing seems like one houge package. Only Netqin showed different packages installing.

Why do you write "For all other Symbian^3 devices, you can get the official Nokia Maps 3.08 release via the software update on your phone or via Nokia Suite in the software update section." when it's not yet available for everyone? At least add "in the next couple of days" or something similar ...
Can´t get the stable version installed onto my n8. Even deinstalling the complete maps apps didn´t help here. It was a hell trip to get maps back. Last try - after many others incl. software reflash via Nokia Suite - was the download here and it workes - POOH!!!
So be aware before deinstalling maps!
Got the Maps 3.08 update via OTA for my USA N8 w/Anna last week. However, the Maps Engine process continues to run, even after the app is closed. Both RamBlow Pro and NetQin Mobile Guard report 6MB of RAM being used, even though nothing appears in Nokia's default task manager.
With only 256MB of RAM and a 1200mAh battery, we can't afford to have processes continuing to run all the time. There are several post about this issue in the Nokia Discussion forums. Please look into this.
After second attempt via software update it works @german N8.
But in my opinion there is nothing impressing in this final version. Core functions like intermediate points are still missing. Compared with 3.07 final it has less functions.
And there is still this awful layout while driving landscape mode.
Time for 3.09 beta.

Was anyone able to install it on a C7? If yes, in which country?
I am in Germany. I have an N-8 running Anna and I have updated yesterday the Maps to v3.08 11wk41 b02 (Map version 0.2.44.110), after uninstall the previous version which was crashing. Now I just have the "Drive" icon visible ("Walk" is not available). Ok, if I click on "Drive", then click on "Just Drive", select a destination in the nearby and then choose "Navigate" then I can see the icon "Walk here." But when I click on that icon to go walking there, the application closes itself. A bug maybe?

Have been trying to update to the Nokia Store version from v3.08 with weather beta. Each time I get a "missing dependency" error. I cannot figure out what that dependency might be.
I have tried removing all the bits of the beta (but cannot track down weather). However the dependency error is still there.
All the S^Anna updates for my N8-00 that have become available have all installed without a hitch.
Any suggestions on what that dependency might be and how graduate my installation?
Hi ! I have the latest Beta installed, got the OTA update on the screen, but instalation was unsuccesful. Neighter could it be instaled through Nokia Suite. What could be the problem and how to solve it (in a simple way)? I would like to ask the Nokia / Beta Labs Team for help. Thanks !

@ludwioli: Can't confirm it, at least OTA it's not available for my C7. How did you update?
@leitma82: Here in Germany, updated to Nokia Maps 3.08 via OTA. Maybe you have to refresh the update list while you change the date of your mobile phone, as per default it's only updated with the server each 24? hours.

I guess its still working properly on my N-8 s.Anna OS,lets hope for the best,THANKS to Nokia team from round the world....!But my suggestion is that it should be updated to 3.09 version so that everyone could enjoy Nokia Maps...
according to App Stop, the new maps stays on in the background. It re-appears every time I close it from App Stop.
Battery monitor shows that background has gone from 22% in a day to around 44% since I installed the new maps.

Hi there, I'm from Malaysia & can not seem to get any weather forecast working from the new weather app here. Tried on my Nokia N8 with updated 3.08 Nokia Maps & as well on a new Nokia 701. Am I missing something or is weather forecast not supported everywhere? Weird thing is the old weather forecast inside Guides app works fine.
I'm in the United States and I can't find the full version either on software update or OVI store :(

Her in Germany for my Nb (code Netherlands) no update to stable 3.08 available!!! I tried to uninstall the 3.08 from Beta, I uninstalled drive, check in... an all other - but if I touch the drive-icon or equal: stil it works! But now I can't find the Apps to try uninstall again!!only Netqin shows the Apps! So unsinstall was not succesfull but removed the entries from the App-list. And now????
I load the 3.06 from Nokia-Store to SD-Card and installed - no I have the old version but the new weather app....
I changedt the Dat to search for updates again - no updates available...

How cann I remove the 3.08 beta? I tried (2 posts back) - but the apps still works - only removed Entries from "installed apps"-List. By the way: after Close navigation some processes still running! Why? therfore not enough RAM for other apps!This proscesses are shown in Netqin.

Maps consist of several sub-apps so basically you need to uninstall more than just the main Maps-app.

....And yes it is somewhat messy that they don't have a simple way to tear down the whole tower (IMHO), this goes for other Symbian apps too.

thanks for the answer - but I uninstalled all parts (like shown in your link) now no one is shown in "installed Programs" any lnger.
I installed the old 3.06 - this is working.
But the new weather app (from 3.08) is still working too! (Icon shown in "Programms" but not shown under installed Programms....)
So how can I uninstall apps wich are not shown?

Your welcome.
I think it went wrong because you started it when only partly uninstalled.
Try to reinstall 3.08 (!) and then uninstall all parts of 3.08, and reboot, before attempting to start 3.06

I've found very ugly bug. Nokia Maps 3.08 installed from oficial Nokia Update service corrupts the file system.
It has happened already twice to me that after USB connection I could no longer start Nokia Maps resulting in an error that first I have to disconnect USB and retry again, although USB is not connected at all. The cause is the directory /cities/lock_map which cannot be deleted anymore, because its content is corrupted, it can only be renamed. I can start Nokia Maps after renaming lock_map to something else. If the bug is not fixed, later I will have a long list of corrupted subdirectories.

Try to install 3.08 (again). Say yes to install, even if it says something is already there. And when it is finished, un-install all, and boot.
This OUGHT to leave you with 3.06 (for a phone where that's part of the firmware)

i have a problem with the widgets ? I have instaled the nokia maps but i can`t turn on my widget on the home creen ?
My N8 Anna Nokia updated OTA to Maps 3.08 does not calculate the Time of arrival. It shows the estimated time of arriving only with the Hours, but no Minutes (dots instead of the minutes number) - f.e. "22:...". This is so even at the Endpoint of the route.
This is very frustrating, as I use the navigation to plan my driving in order to arrive on time.
P.S. This was no problem with the previous Ovi Maps 3.06.
P.S.2 - The problem is with the Nokia Pure Font. When not using it the Time of arrival is shown correctly!

I am using the nokia N8 and deinstalled the maps program because i could not update my maps 3.08 programme. the update is always canceled by a failure. The problem now is that Maps 3.08 is nowhere available anymore. You say install it by the update function in the nokia suite, but the update is not working. What do I do now? Maps is essentially for me and I use that app very often! Please help me quickly!

When i open the weather App to shows St Peters, Macquarie Island which is located in SubAntarctic Islands.
Weather today in St Peters new south wales is 17deg
Weather in St peters Maquarie island is 5deg...
How can i change the weather location on the weather app seems to something missing?

It is nice to see how Nokia invests in updating Nokia Maps for the latest device (free nav included) but it is really discriminating that a phone like Nokia E73 has free nav and Nokia N96 does not have one even though it's better phone. But just because it's old they don't want to give free nav. Nokia sucks...

Well N95 was released almost FIVE years ago. Some sort of limit on development for older models must be expected. I do not think it is reasonable to blame Nokia for that.

xixo71 I have the same problem you have to hold your finger on the place you want to go then the option to drive there or walk there will appear. That makes the whole application go into the new layout hopefully that will change with the update! see this topic in which I had my problem solved.

Nokia Maps doesn't loaded on c7! Why? I try to re-install this app but I can't to opened the Map Apps folder, this loaded but then I see my screen and again something loaded but doe'st opened. Can you help me, anyone?
