Thu, 2012-02-09 14:06Nokia Maps Suite puts all the information you need to find your way—maps, drive and walk directions, public transport, and weather—all in one smart package. And the latest release makes it even smarter and more personalized with new additions such as voice search, geo-tagged photo display, and the return of the new and improved Route Planner. Finding your way has never been better. Try it out now!
Find what you need with a tap.
In addition to fast, intuitive tools for finding your way, the new Maps makes accessing information and features faster than ever. Press and hold on a destination to choose how you want to get there—including public transport. And enjoy one-tap access to Places and Weather right from your Home screen.
Personalize the way you get around.
Nokia Maps now also makes your maps more personal than ever. Turn on Photos to see your snapshots of the places you’ve been placed along your map. Create customized routes for sightseeing or to avoid traffic. You can even save your favorite routes to access them later.
Navigate safer behind the wheel.
With new voice search capability, you can speak your destination for safer and easier searching while driving. New and improved landscape views in Weather and Drive make seeing what you need easier. And Weather now automatically shows you the weather for where you are, and can even show you what’s ahead.
Turn your map into a photo-blog.
Now you can choose to see your photos from places you’ve been placed right on your map. Using the geo-tagging information in photos taken on your phone, Maps will automatically place them in the locations they were taken where you can relive good times or even share them with friends.
Nokia Maps Suite 2.0 is now available for Symbian phones with Nokia Belle. Please try it out and let us know what you think of it. We look forward to hearing from you!

After installing Nokia Maps Suite 2.0 card run, loading and closing
already installed. looks great, specially the new widgets as square's maps on my homescreen. My concern is about my Memory usage on C:, already lost 10 mb after install Nokia Maps Suite 2.0 I want to know what can I do about that.
My other concern it's about Nokia Maps 3.09 if running in background. I couldn't checked but this new version solved that issue as 3.08? Was a big trouble, specially for battery consumption and RAM usage.
I appreciate the feedback.
Hi gonxs,
Thanks - let us know what you think about the widgets when you've used them for a while!

Very happy to see route planning back on the phone. THX.
Installed, works well so far. You should be able to turn off or on, not just refresh the My location widget!
Works just great, no hickups whatsoever, it's faster and UI makes much more sense then before, I just can't seem to find any widgets related to MapsSuite ? And I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll find improved map for Serbia in the next update - because in its current state renders my NokiaMapsSuite useless.
Nevertheless I would give five stars to the app itself, I think it will be a great upgrade for many Nokia users.
Is there a non-UK version that I seem to have downloaded? My Maps doesn't have the Photos layer and my weather app doesn't have a landscape display mode.
App versions:
Maps and Drive v.3.09 12wk06 b01, map version 0.2.43.11
Public Transport v1.8.2 build 29
Weather v1.0.138
I'd also like to suggest a dark mode for all the apps to save power on AMOLED screens.
Installed on E7 running GB Belle (no belle love for AU yet:()for even my generic E7:( but rather like Maps 2.0, weather animations are next best against HTC Sense (HTC are pieces of art :) ...maps load quicker than 3.08 and more poi's show
Been taking it for a spin, and so far like it, I think it was the right choice to remove pulse from the maps suite. Review coming up soon.

Install was ok.Programm run fantastic. What is missing is a weather homescreen wiget.
I cannot find the new voice search capability...
my favorite places syn flawlessly.
i have the same problemi cannot find the voice search capabilities
Second download worked fine (stopped first after 8 hours!). A wish for the "where am I" widget - I would like to able to email my location, instead of texting it as now, and I'd like to be able to set the email address so that pressing the message icon automatically emails my location. What are the chances?
The map widget works whell but personaly dont like the places widget maybe because its kinda small. But I love the Photo places ! Now maps is missing the weather widget which worked whel on my flashed N8 but not on the official Belle :/

In this version, voice search only works for people with UK SIM cards.

Loving the new suite, so far. I only have a few comments and suggestions I've already posted on the Feedback discussion board.
I'm posting here to present a suggestion:
Make it possible for us to include attachments on the Feedback discussions. Many of us (like me) are not native English speakers and there are a number of situations where it's a lot easier to explain something if we could post images as attachments.
Cheers!
@paulo-rosa We will be allowing attachments to posts in a future update to Nokia Beta Labs. In the meantime you could consider using any number of photo sharing services and provide the link in your post.

Very good and faster , no problem.
I realy like this update ! Combined with Car mode app it's one of the best GPS app on mobile phone I've ever used (Don't now if this Car mode is usable with ck-300 ? bringing compatibility between ck-300 & N8 would make me buy it right now !)
I.e. so as the others I'm realy glad to get route planning back but...
they are some functions which were there in Maps 1 & 2.0 on my N95 out-of-the-box but are still missing since the betalabs last versions (from beta 3.0 in 2009 if I remember well)
1)_how to add a waypoint (from contact, history, POI/street search, map tap,...) while driving already on a route !?!
I've found the ability to add (all those) waypoints types but only from the classic Maps (not drive) mode in such a realy powerfull manner... so why are we not able to add waypoints during a road trip (like gas stations) ?
2)_In previous Maps version we were able to tell to the phone that the route is closed or at work so Maps will recompute a route without passing by this portion... How could we do that now ? When I'm facing a closed street now Maps will continue to reroute me through this street a dozen of times until I'm a lot after it (because sideways are slower than this closed street in normal trafic) and I cannot force to reroute without this street portion ! That's realy annoying !:-/
3)_In the first Nokia Maps version I was able to diffuse the voice guidance to the integrated FM transmitter (at the condition of diffusing Music at the same time) and so even to my '72 oldtimer car hifi \o/... Now even with the Car Mode app -where diffusing Music to FM is very well integrated for use during drive- Music stops from playing on Car's Hifi and voice guidance will come from the N8 loudspeaker and not from car's hifi !!! I also do not understant why such a regress in functionnality ? Every one has not a BT enabled car Hifi (even not oldtimer)
4)_Lastly a very little thing which is quite missing on Maps from the first version is A BATTERY METER ! I now that GPS power consumption is lot better than it was on my N85 which could not stand GPS during more than 1h but I still don't see why don't you put a little battery bar meter in one of the screen corners (and also why the GPS sat receiving meter is gone)
5)_What seems more like a bug than a design option is also the ability to set to warn only for speedcams placed in the direction we drive... it seems to be a behavior which is implemented only in some versions than disapear in the next one and than reappear... maybe a switch to set "warn for speedcams in both direction" in Maps settings would be a beter move !
So these are all my remarks... maybe I've missed something ? If someone has solution to one of these lacks I'll be realy glad to get them !
not installing in nokia 500
I liked this suite so much on my old good N97 mini, but I've been offered a Lumia 800. A quite good phone, but Nokia Drive is so.... poor. Maybe a day....
downloaded the new maps beta really like it especially the route feature and landscape weather. only grip its eaten the memory on my C drive please advise now showing 97.mb free!
Whilst in drive mode it would be very useful to be able to toggle between a full screen with just the map, and the info screen with map. I often find the info to be unnecessary, especially if you become lost. Having a full screen pinch to zoom map with speed limit warning when limits are exceeded would be brilliant. Another problem further reducing the visible map area is when you use the pinch to zoom facility the name of the road comes up referencing to the point where you initially touched the map! An on/off toggle is needed or a settings option to show if required.
Finally is there a manual, say in pdf format which shows us all the maps capabilities and how to use them. Thanks.
It is getting better and better but not quite there yet.
nice job
