A-GPS beta for N810

Let me introduce A-GPS beta for N810!

Assisted GPS (A-GPS) provides assistance data for GPS calculations within the device. This application enables A-GPS on your N810 Internet Tablet device and provides improved GPS fix times.

In order to benefit from A-GPS you need to have:
* latest OS2008 SW version (DIABLO_4.2008.23-14 or later)
* possibility for internet connection.

You need set the reference location at the first time you use A-GPS and everytime you have moved a long distance
(>300 kilometers / 185 miles) from your previous reference location. Whenever your Internet Tablet gets a GPS fix
your reference location will be automatically updated accordingly.

Known issues:
* if reference location is set totally wrong, GPS may not get a fix at all

If you own the compatible device, please download and tell us what you think!

Guest blogger: Victor Brilon, Internet Tablet Video Converter team.

Nokia Internet Tablet Video Converter has been updated and we’re thrilled to bring you this latest version. This latest release includes several major updates, including:

  • A version for OS X that’ll run on Tiger and Leopard on Intel and PPC platforms. This is our first release for the OS X platform, so we are eager to hear your feedback on how it could be improved
  • The codecs for the Windows version have been updated and hopefully we’ve fixed the bugs that the community has reported to us
  • The Developer API has been updated based on user feedback. It now supports Python, Perl, and Java as programming languages to access the API. We’re very interested in seeing what the community can cook up using this feature.

Download here.

Thanks to our great Internet Tablet community, we’ve made some really good changes to this software and we hope you like it as much as we do. Please report any bugs you find at https://bugs.maemo.org.

Thanks,
Victor

Internet Tablet Video Converter updated (and public API added for developers)

tablet_video_converter3.PNG

Nokia Internet Tablet Video Converter was just updated, go and download the new version from here.

The team has done lots of improvements based on your feedback, but most importantly, the latest version includes a public API to allow 3rd party developers to create modifications and further improvements. I hope to see a vibrant community emerging around this app: end-user discussion happening here at Beta Labs, and development discussion at maemo.org. If this modus operandi works well, we’ll probably do the same thing with other future projects too.

One of the key guys behind the application wanted to personally address your feedback so far: (click for more) (more…)

Ladies and gents, let me introduce Nokia Internet Tablet Video Converter, the first Beta Labs application for Nokia Internet Tablets. That’s right, Beta Labs is not for S60 and S40 devices only: we are going to have lots of cool stuff for Internet Tablets such as Nokia N810 and Nokia N800 in the future too!! (I wonder if we should set up a dedicated section for these).

Anyway, all you N800 and N810 owners, try this out:

With Nokia Internet Tablet Video Converter, you can easily convert your videos – the ones you shot yourself and the ones you downloaded from the Internet (legally of course) – into an optimized format for your Nokia Internet Tablet. All you need to do is drag and drop your videos into the application, which automatically converts them into a size and resolution that are just perfect for your Internet Tablet.

Download here.

Please tell us what you think about the application, and how we could improve it! As always, send your feedback either (1) privately to the feedback form, (2) publicly to the comments section of this post, or (3) by writing your thoughts at your own blog - just link back and we’ll hear about it.
