Discussion for Nokia Messaging

Fri, 2009-03-06 18:59 jimbotron: E71 Nokia Email Client Receives Email but does not Send

Hi - I have an E71 and have downloaded and installed the nokia email client. Very easy to install and use and looks great, after mucking around with gmail i thought this was the answer. I have it set up with IMAP and my MS Outlook. I have managed to add 2 email addresses and can receive email very quickly and it's great. The problem I have is that I can not reply or send any emails from my E71. Does anyone know what would cause me to have this problem and what the solution might be please?
Just to clarify - E71, installed nokia email client, set up emails address using imap settings. I can recive email but can not send out from the E71 -any solutions?
Thanks

Fri, 2009-03-13 02:42 sgp: Nokia Email client won't install properly on my E71

I recently upgraded the firmware on my E71 to 2.00. After that, I tried to download and reinstall the Nokia Email client. The icons for Email and E-mail setup are in my Installations folder, but clicking on the Email icon does nothing and clicking on the E-mail setup just pushes me into setup for the default messaging application. Help!

@sgp
to use email setup icon for the first time use, you need to set up email from nokia.email.com first.
after updating via sms, then you will be able to use email setup icon and from that moment on any new email added will be adde to email client not default messaging.
yes, I know this "bug".

Like Jimbotron's first post above, I have exactly the same problem. I installed the Nokia Email Messaging application in my E71 handset - it works brilliantly, I like the interface/email launcher in the handset and it receives emails quickly. But, I'm unable to send or reply to the emails from my current Pop3 Account that I set up in the client application (only gemail or yahoo email accounts seem to work). My account is a Pop3 account and I cannot send.

I have stopped counting the number of times I called the Nokia Messaging Careline, without any solution to this problem (I live in Johannesburg, South Africa). In fact, I'm not sure if these people know what the problem is, or know what I am talking about. Everytime I call the careline number, I get a different person with a different diagnoses of the problem and a different solution. At one stage, I was asked to switch off my handset, take off the battery and the SIM card, and wait for five minutes before reassembling it and try to send again, but it didn't work. The other day one of them blamed my email account service provider, saying that their system was incompatible with the Nokia Messaging client software.

I have been surfing the net and reading up on this problem, also trying to see if there are other other people with the same problem and so far, I know of four people (including myself) who have reported the same problem with the Nokia Messaging application in different discussion forums. So I figure, this is a new software that Nokia is trialing and they probably dont know how to sort out this problem, but don't have the decency to admit to it.

So Jimbotron, if you do get a solution to this problem, please post on here and let us know how you resolved it - it would be helpful.

Like Zulu767 and Jimbotron, I can't send or reply from phone using my office email account (but can from yahoo and gmail). This wasn't always so; I've been using the Nokia email app since December and this inability to send began in late February. Sounds more like a problem with Nokia (i.e. they've done something of late to make it incompatible with email acct.s other than yahoo and gmail).

Anyone here have experience with emoze?

Thu, 2009-04-23 09:06 mbrett: I usemultiple accounts OK at present.

I use Hotmail, OVI (IMAP), Yahoo Mail and my POP3 and they all receive. After a little play with the port settings on the Nokia Mail website they all seem to work fine. Have you checked that your provider has not changed the posrt settings or something?
