Already works on N95 8Gb

Just been to the Nokia Mobile Codes website and created a V-card to test with. Phone could not read the v-card on screen, maybe too much detail or screen too bright. Printed it off and phone read the v-card mobile code easily.

Did notice that it only gives the options of saving the phone number and e-mail to contacts. Ignores the fact that the contact name is in the v-card. Adding the ability to recognise teh name field as usable and making it so you can import all details from the v-card as a new contact in one go would be a nice improvement. More of an import contact than add contact data.

not supported, if you look

not supported, if you look at the mobilecodes page it clearly says

http://mobilecodes.nokia.com/scan.htm

Note about Business card support. The following Nokia devices support decoding of Business card information: Nokia E66, E71, N78, 6210 Navigator, 6220 Classic and N96. For other Nokia devices please install one of the other code readers listed below.

I was playing with Perl module QD::Barcode::QRcode but it seems my test vcard was too big. In any case the n95 reads the vcards as plain text, that's why it only uses the TEL: entry

vCards

My N95 8Gb read as follows:

I entered information in the following fields:
First Name
Surname
Telephone
E-mail
Address
Barcode Name

My phone saved the following info (using firmware barcode reader:

BEGIN:VCARD = Uneditable Text
N:"Surname";"Frist Name" = Uneditable Text
TEL:"Telephone" = Able to add to contacts or create new contact
EMAIL:"E-mail" = Able to add to contacts or create new contact
ADR:"Address" = Uneditable Text
VERSION:3.0 = Uneditable Text
END:VCARD = Uneditable Text

Which is best?

Anyone tried all the different 3rd party options identified by Nokia?

If so which is best?

i-nigma

Tried i-nigma as referenced at:
http://mobilecodes.nokia.com/scan.htm

Offers to import all info in one go as contact, but you end up with a contact with no last name and the first name is "Surname";"First Name", so reads "N:" as a "first name" identifier.

Close, but no banana.

ok I did everything here I

ok I did everything here
I checked http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VCard and I tried decoding a vCard generated by mobilecodes.nokia.com and a few I crafted by hand using QD::Barcode::QRcode running in my desktop @office to no success

the nokia reader simply gets the text
i-nigma gets stuck at the 1st line so if I put a vcard version it thinks the name is that, nothing else gets saved in "Contacts"

so, any reader that interprets vCards correctly out there?
