Discussion for Conversation

mckenzis Fri, 2009-03-13 07:29

Has anyone with a N95 got this to work properly

I have a N95 8Gb and have installed Conversation but I can only get it to display incoming messages.

No outgoing messages are displayed.

I have the latest version FW for my phone (20.0.0.16) according to nokia software updater.

So I am interested whether anyone with an N95 has this working correctly.

Yes

What is the product code of your phone?
(This is the 7 digit code on on the IMEI label in the battery compartment of your phone starting with "05")

I have a strong belief that it was provided by a mobile provider and is locked to them (ie. Vodafone UK latest firmware is 20.0.016).

The latest FW version for the UK (Prod Code. 0554747) is 31.0.015, which is about 4 versions later than what is on your phone.

I am running FW v31.0.015 and see all messages. It worked fine with version 30.0.018 also.

V 20.0.016

You are correct.

It is a Vodafone Australia phone.

Prod Code is 0566134 and the Nokia software updater indicates it is up to date (as does the Nokia Device software update page.

Good to know the application does actually run correctly on the phone though.

Will contact Vodafone to find out about update

Same here on a N95-3 RM-160

Same here on a N95-3 RM-160 Firmware 20.2.011

It was working fine but is no longer. Can't uninstall, can't reinstall. Sucks. I liked this program too!

Something to note

Something to note:

If you are running the latest version of OVI Contacts then Conversation will not install. They use the same drivers but different versions. The previous version of Contacts played nicely with Conversatiom, but the latest version does not. (See attached thread)

Also, the attached thread may provide some ideas on uninstalling Conversation.

This does not discount the fact that your firmware is VERY old.

20.2.011 is the most recent

20.2.011 is the most recent firmware for the RM-160 (North American model)

I'm thinking of just doing a reset to clean it up. It's time anyway...

uninstalled ovi contacts and

uninstalled ovi contacts and conversation, cleaned up the driver, reset device, reinstalled the ISS package, removed the Nokia contacts driver, re-installed the phonebook extension and installed conversation.

Testing now.

UPDATE: Nope. Didn't work. The program runs, but is not registering any outgoing messages. Bummer.

If it helps . . .

I am expecting there to be a new version coming at some point as the present version will not play nicely with the latest version of Contacts. The incopatability with OVI Contacts is a known issue, so i assume we will get a new version of Conversation which will use the new support files, used by the latest version of OVI Contacts.

New current version didn't work for me

I had installed the current version on my N95-3 when it came out and was not able to receive or view MMS messages like I was able to do so with the older version of Conversations. Went ahead and uninstalled it and re-installed older version and seems to work better for me that the newer one.
