Discussion for Nokia Beta Labs

Fri, 2009-04-17 11:17 Ilkka: New ideas for beta labs applications!

There is no real way to suggest new software at Beta Labs and there is a reason for this. The core Beta Labs team does not develope anything in practice. We are a very small team and merely a channel for the actual development teams to conduct beta trialling. We also do not accept ideas, since we do not have the capability to respond to them.

Please, do not suggest new software ideas on Beta Labs site. I know you would really really want to, but please, still, don't.

You can, however, give suggestions to how to improve the applications here (on their own forums). For example, you can suggest a new feature if you feel it is missing from a product and you believe the feature would make the beta better for its purpose.

However, if this feature is an "application wishlist for Beta Labs" or a "place to suggest new ideas in Beta Labs"... you get the picture :)

Read the About and the FAQ and this forum to find out why this is.

Now, if you STILL really, really want to suggest a new application, go ahead and comment this thread with your suggestion. But this thread only! I must warn you though, these ideas might not be commented or in any other way acted on by us at Beta Labs. Still, if it makes you feel better, go ahead. I like reading the new ideas myself, but I just hate that we can't really currently do much with them.

Fri, 2009-04-17 12:26 mbrett: Well Said

Well said llkka,

Hopefully people will start to listen.

@llkka - Any chance a sticky can be added to the top of each forum within the current Apps Section pointing to this thread as otherwise a great deal of people may not see this thread and do as requested.
Cheers

Fri, 2009-04-17 14:50 Ilkka: Will require the announcement functionality

I remember there being discussion about a kind of "announcement" feature for the forum, by which I could create forum posts that would show up on all of the forums. Currently the forum does not support this, but I'll see if it can be developed to.

further more i had an "idea" (haha) and i do not understand why it never was conceived.

There is no real idea postal, an lets face it nokia has its hands tied an not much gain to be made.

This should belong to forum nokia!!!!!
Have you and tommi a discussion with the folks an come to a final resolution.

That is where ideas should be put!
Now both partys will benefit.
I dont need to explain my self why, i bet u will know an understand more than i can imagine.

P.S i had this in mind i while ago, but now found the perfect opportunity.

Wed, 2009-05-06 23:18 JuhS: Couple ideas

My biggest problem with the current Nokia converter is the money converter. You will have to enter manually the values. And as money currencies change on daily basis, it would be nice to have an option to update the latest currency exchange rates via the web.

Also, for the Maps software, could you develop some sort of public transport map layer? For example Helsinki's public transport organization have already good, extensive digital maps which could be integrated to the Nokia Maps application.

Anyways, love all the new betas here, very innovative...
