Discussion for Nokia Point and Find

Jason.RS Mon, 2009-05-11 16:28

Somewhat works on E71, but slowly

Obviously it's not optimised for the E71, however I have verified that it loads on the E71. Regarding the application itself, no features work as expected except for displaying local movie times. Shopping doesn't work, neither does the actual "point and find" feature. The program does take pictures, however it fails to recognize anything.

What's makes the app worse are the ads. By far, the most prominent ad was a religious ad (at least for me). At first it was annoying, then it became somewhat offensive. I've since deleted the program because of this.

@Jason.RS

Hi Jason.RS,

Please let me apologize on behalf of our team for this unpleasant experience with ads. I have shared your feedback with the team and we will fix this asap.

A version of P&F for E71 is in the works and I will post an update on this channel when it goes live. Please stay tuned and maybe you can give it another try when the experience is better tailored to your device?

Regards,
SC

@Jason.RS

Hi Jason.RS, one more thing: do you recall the ad text or the URL?
Thanks,

SC, The ad text was

SC,

The ad text was something along the lines of "How will you prepare for the afterlife?", not verbatim. The link sent me to a Christian website, which I didn't investigate further. It was the most common ad displayed, practically after every third or fourth action. I thought that perhaps the ad was just being re-cycled since there weren't many servers, however ads for Mothers Day and various theaters were showing up intermittently and hardly ever repeating in fashion such as this ad.

Thanks for addressing my concerns, I really appreciate it. One piece of advice that I can give to you guys regarding the app is the camera image space. The image capture in the app seemed "zoomed out" in a sense, it wasn't as easy to focus in on things as the camera normally does in this phone. Also, since the E71 is in permanent landscape mode there was quite a bit of capture space to the left and right that didn't seem necessary. Other than that, the app seems like it could be useful.
