Bugreport for Nokia Friend View

Australia Approximate location is not working

I used to get the approximate location in Australia 2 versions ago (I'm on 0.911 now), I'm sure of it!
The approximate location hasn't worked for a long time now. Every so often I have been opening up friend view and testing it because I have been wanting to use it on some friends when it decided to start working again!

Thought I should let you know... thanks

Hello CLTSchwarz The

Hello CLTSchwarz

The approximate location in Friend View uses "Network Based" (cell id) location.

Could you check if you have these general S60 platform settings set?
- Tools / Settings / Positioning / Positioning methods: "Network Based"
- Tools / Settings / Positioning / Positioning Server: the default setting for 'Server address' should be "supl.nokia.com", and also check if a valid network Access Point is used.

Best regards,
James

Positioning Methods is way different

My positioning methods are:
Bluetooth GPS,
Network Based

My positioning server is:
Access Point: Telstra Internet
Server address:
h-slp.mnc001.mcc505.pub.3gppnetwork.org

I changed the server address to supl.nokia.com and now I am on the wrong side of the equator in google maps and friend view!!!

I have put the original server address back in and now Google maps is working again but friend view is not. In friend view, I go to "Location Info" and it says:
Module: Network Based
Location Waiting...

Thanks for your quick reply!!! I would love to use this program in my business just to know where our vehicles are, the reason for this is because Friendview gives the option for GPS locations while hidden where Google latitude does not!!! Not all of our vehicle phones have GPS in them however.

weird behavior

If I put supl.nokia.com and set "Network Based" to enabled, google maps locates me correctly, but maps 2.0. maps 3.0 and friend view locate me in the wrong side of the equatorial line.

absolutes

yeah, the clowns use absolute values for the lat and lon. it was reported to them in the last version and they still havent fixed what seems to be a simple problem.

Alternative source for location

It would be good if Nokia Friendview could decipher the information coming from the other "Network based Positioning server" mentioned above.
That server gives fairly accurate locations, however there is a tower in the middle of NSW Australia that reports it's location as the top of the North Island in NZ!!!

Location

Just thought I would let you know that this problem is not fixed with the update, you probably know already however :)
Update version .913
I Put Supl.Nokia.com back in and it put my Lattitude at +35 again instead of -35, Japan instead of Australia
However Google Latitude with the supl.nokia.com server now pinpoints my location very well!
But Nokia Maps puts me in Japan.
