Thu, 2009-05-14 15:30 mbrett: NEW BETALABS Mobile Website

Lookin nice until you log in and then you re-appear at the full (non mobile) Betalabs Website.

Prior to log in it looks good.

Post login its the old site again. Tried Signing out and get unexpected response and unable to log into the website on my phone anymore. Keep getting bounced between secure and unsecure and then unexpected response.

I'll update this post as things progress.

I am expecting the star rating to increase as the initial bugs are sorted.

Suddenly realised that 2 stars was pretty harsh so increased to 3.

Thu, 2009-05-14 19:04 Ilkka: Try clicking the button on

Try clicking the button on the footer. It might say you are opening the desktop browser first and on the second time the mobile optimized site. This might have something to do with whether you have switched to the mobile optimized view first when signed in on your desktop PC.

Thu, 2009-05-14 19:32 teemule: and the bughunt begins..

The bouncing was fixed at least to some degree. Seems like the return from nokia account sign in/out looses the device detection.. Simple reload fixes for me. (the footer selection has no effect from device to another device, or browser)

Fri, 2009-05-15 07:52 mbrett: Worked it out (on my phone at least)

On my phone, if I select reload after arriving at the standard full vis version of the site after login on the mobile site I end up bouncing around in a sign-in loop between secure and unsecure. The only way to loginn and end up still on the mobile site is for me to accept my arrival at the non-mobile website and then click on a tab (ie. forum). During this page transition the site recognises I am on a mobile device (N95 8Gb) and switched back to the mobile site. This repeatedly works for me. Reloading doesn't. This is my work around for the moment. Look forward to a more permanenet solution.

As fernando says on the blog page. I have also noticed that the avatar images do not display on the mobile site for user posts. He seems to have identified the reason for that though.

On http://betalabs.nokia.com/blog/2009/05/14/beta-labs-mobile-site-beta-lau... fernando wrote:

"Other problem I've found, avatars don't work on comment threads in the mobile version, they get linked as betalabs.nokia.com/files/imagecache/avatar_badge/pictures/picture-xxx.jpg when it should be just betalabs.nokia.com/files/pictures/picture-xxx.jpg from what I've tried."

Tried that last night. Is this due to something you've done this?

Didn't work for me yesterday as I tried that aswell. All that did was stop the buoncing around until the next time I logged in.

On my previous post I mentioned that the bouncing and "unexpected response" only occurs if I reload. If I click on one of the tabs and go into a different page of the Betalabs site I re-direct to a mobile site version of that page and am OK from that point onward.

Although the work around mentioned in my previous post when I close the browser and then start up the browser and re-visit the Betalabs site I need to delete cookies before I can re-load the site as I bounce again.

It appears that every time I close my browser after being logged into the betalabs mobile site I need to delete all cookies or I will be playing secure v. un-secure ping pong next time I try to visit the site.

OK after trying it few more time this morning: Now when I re-start my browser and go to betalabs.nokia.com I bounce around a little, but do end up on the main website, still logged in (which i s a good thing, from which I will be diverted to the mobile website as soon as I change pages. We're getting there

There also seems to be a lag between the mobile and web forums. I realise this are the same, but posts which show as read on my PC show as unread on the mobile site on my phone.

Sorry guys for the inconvenience. There is evidently still some work to do on the mobile view. These bugs will be fixed eventually.
