How can you suggest we try Creating a World when we are faced with a screen informing us that::

Basic Beta Pack
Publish a world for the public or for yourself.
1 publisher(s)
USD 499.00/month

I am NEVER going to try something, escecially in BETA, when it will cost me $49.90 pm, let alone $499.00 pm.

What is going n here???

Hi again mbrett,

Like I said in my other post to you, you and viran are not the only ones to ask about discounted prices for worlds and I will pass on your feedback to the team. Please keep checking this forum for new announcements, and thanks as usual for your continued interest and good feedback.

Fri, 2009-07-17 04:23 iivo: bottom line

i was very excited about both p&f and it's potential but i will never pay to try out a beta product, as i see it im helping you out for free so asking me to pay to do that is rather silly. That u ask for an intial. Payment and clearly state that the free test service may end at any given time with the option of upgrading is fair enough though. Anyway for me ill keep providing feedback to nokia's free betas & exprimental project and i do it for free. Ofcourse wont say no if you choose to pay me though its optional =)-- N95 31.0.0.17 | N97 11.0.0.21 ---

Agreed.. the whole idea of paying for a limited shared environment is maybe nice for commercial customers, but definately not for end users.
Consider that you need your end users to build a trusted growing environment of tags and content, you will never achief this by asking a rediculous contribution for something that the public for the time being sees as a gimmick.

Also consider that the competition (read android based phones are miles ahead using augmented reality like browsers) regarding content and usuability.

I would expect (but could not try obviously) that when I tag something on my phone, I will be possible to edit and add information to those uploaded tags on the portal, creating a wiki like growing environment of interst points. Espesially in city mode.

As an example where you could get mony from this project would be something sililar as the ATM machine overlays you get from ING on the android right now. They would maybe pay to have their content delivered with nice ads, aditional ING office information etc.

But please, leave the contribution for end users that want to participate and help you mature this application and gain the momentum while you still can!

Tue, 2009-10-20 01:27 scmoatti: P&F: free client vs. subscription

Hi all,

Thank you for your good feedback and suggestion on our business model. At the moment, our client is available for free to download. When you are in the City Guide experience, you can contribute content and it's free to do so.

We're asking for a subscription fee only when you decide to take the big leap and create your own experience on our platform. I understand you would like to be able to do this for free as well, however at the moment we do not offer this. Please stay tuned, I'll post on this blog if/when we decide to do so.

Br and again, please keep those suggestions coming,

Tue, 2009-11-24 05:23 seki: If you want contribution to your development process..

then you're going to have to remove the barriers to participation. As several posters have noted your model might work for large businesses but for individuals and small companies the expense cannot be justified, especially in a "beta" mode. I was going to try this out for my employer and make a recommendation but faced with finding a minimum of $50 to try something I simply gave up.
I strongly suggest you allow one free world (for a month at least) for anyone willing to try out the environment, and provide feedback.
Also if you provided the ability to change the client application to point at an alternative (read my own) servers then I could find a use for this. In the mean time I'll pursue other methods of providing geo-tagged uploads to my own "world".
I will keep an eye on your development. Good Luck!
