Tue, 2009-06-23 18:18 bogart: yes mac version

A mac version would be nice, with so many people using them these days. but I'd just go with 10.5 and above.

And then release a Linux version, because that's what the people really demand! :)

I hope so that the fact the new Suite is build in QT it brings us a near possibility that a MAC and Linux version could be possible.

Meanwhile I have great feelings this this version, good job Nokia

A mac version would be great (including itunes and iphoto support).

I have recently moved back to Nokia phones with the purchase of a N97 and I am struggling with the lack of Mac support. I use my MacBook for email, contacts management, calendar, notes, to do, web browsing, and multimedia. I also have a PC desktop that I use for photo management (downloading from camera, photoshop, etc...) and gaming. As there is currently no iSync plug-in for the N97 and Nokia Multimedia Transfer doesn't yet support the N97 I have had to resort to transferring content to my PC and then syncing from there. This leaves a lot to be desired including the amount of work involved and the fact that I can't yet sync calendar event, notes, and to do items.

I don't know the statistics on the percentage of Mac/Nokia smart phone users but I would have thought that the Mac platform should be supported by default.

Will try to wait patiently for Mac support.

Sat, 2009-06-27 17:26 leitgab: I think a good software

I think a good software product offers exactly the same functionality on all main operating systems. According to my opinion a main operating systems has more than 5% market share (see [1]). So this includes current Windows and Mac versions. Linux has only 1% maket share and this is already a sum of different distributions and versions, so cost-benefit ratio would be very worse here.

As mentioned before, the software on Mac should offer exactly the same functionality as on Windows (see [2]), but adopted to the standard software delivered with every Mac. So syncing contacts should be possible with Addressbook, events with iCal, music with iTunes, notes with Mail, bookmarks with Safari, photos with iPhoto and so on.

Thu, 2009-08-06 02:04 tavo97: and Mac OS support...when???

when are you thinking we will have support? No Isync plug in for the N97, No Ovi or PC suite for Mac, guys, we are paying for a phone and the support, but, the lack of support for apple users is a shame... I will refuse to install parallels and XP or vista in my Mac to have sync my N97...

....Some time in the future....next year? maybe...

Sat, 2009-08-01 21:47 rfornos: and Mac Os support... When???

If Nokia wants to compete against iPhone, not helping much the users of Mac. Like proprietor of a N97, I assure that it is far better telephone, but integration with the Mac is shameful.

It is incredible that with the great amount of users of Mac that already there is, Nokia has not removed in simultaneous when driver of Windows driver for Mac.

Wed, 2009-08-05 20:15 Mass: Another Mac OS X 10.5.7 user

Another Mac OS X 10.5.7 user here! Needs for mac version list is here:

* Seamless connection with iPhoto. Forget that you create our own photo library program. Nobody uses it. It's terribly bad on windows also!!!
* Make it use music ID tags like iTunes do. Now when using Nokia Multimedia trasfer, song displays like them should in iTunes but wrongly in my phone
* PLEASE make one to two click wizard for bluetooth modeem. Or at least update your site's support. Now it's made for Tiger and Snow leopard is already coming
* You could also add WIFI synching possibility to sync your stuff. Bluetooth is slow and nobody do not want to carry cables with laptop.
* Make it stable and watch out for making it memory monster.

Thu, 2009-08-20 09:55 motionmonk: Mac support is a must

Hello, I am a first time Nokia user for only 2 days! I am migrating to the E71 from 5+ years with the PalmOS. As a Mac user I am truly surprised at the lack of support beyond Windows in the Nokia world. I will not talk about how many users use one platform vs another, but my general observations is that most Mac users are willing to pay for their tools, and respect proper functioning apps and vendors. I work in visual design, and my professional toolsets are on par or better being on the Mac OS, and it is frustrating to feel that I am an afterthought when I look at the expensive Nokia phone I just bought.
Nokia needs to understand the flow of software functionality between iPhoto, iTunes, Mail or Entourage, and how connectivity via BT should be seamless for the end user.
Give us equivalent workflows with equivalent ease of use, and I'll sing your praises : )

Mon, 2009-08-31 17:08 mp1963: Mac OS X 10.6 support

The lack of Apple Mac support from Nokia is shocking. Nokia are not helping themselves at all. Apple users buy Nokia phones but discover that there is pitifully little they can do to connect their device to their Apple Mac. As a software developer who uses an excellent development tool that can compile for Windows, Mac and Linux from the same source code, the lack of software from Nokia is hard to comprehend really. Please make the effort instead of leaving Mac users out in the cold!

Thu, 2009-10-22 12:52 aapo.rista: Beta-version for me?

I should start using N97 (I already got the device), but I can't because I can't sync Mac's Calendar and Addressbook with it.

If you have any kind of beta version of Nokia Ovi Suite for Mac, send it to me, please. I could be your external beta-tester. :-)
