In my opinion, the calendar view in PC Suite was nice and simple.

I personally prefer OVi Suite to become a small PIM application, but if it is out of scope, the calendar functionality in PC suite is sufficient.

It would be nice to have one application. While pc suite does the job, the interface on OVI is far superior and more user friendly. I still would like to see the calendar feature in.

Fri, 2009-06-26 21:22 brysselilainen: Clarification on calender sync

Just to get this straight, ovi suite 2.0 will allow at least the same level of PC-mobile sync of contacts and calendar as on ovi.com. Is that true? If so, then effectively you wouldn’t need outlook if you could get your email via SMTP, pushed, etc. and if, with OVI, you have access to a decent contacts and calender software. I assume the sync will work both ways. If ovi suite 2.0 is to be truly useful then it needs that calender function inside. I agree that starting with ovi.com functions would be good.
This clarification is important to me, because I have a 9300 and want to get an E90 and need to understand exactly what it can and can’t do.
Thanks.

Yes the Calendar is very important for me as an E90 user. But keep the Outlook sync till you manage to integrate Calendar entries catagories and Email notification in the Ovi UI itself please. And if you can do it then who will use Outlook??

@saylinen

I would like the calendar to be syncable to Ovi Suite, as in no Outlook or third party software. I want a local calendar on my computer that I can edit right there in Ovi. Sure, you could add Outlook syncing for those that want it, but Windows doesn't come with Outlook any more, nor any mail client at all (by default in Windows 7).

I've mentioned this before as well, but what's the point of keeping the Ovi Suite data and the Ovi.com data separate? If I use Ovi Suite to log in to my Ovi account, I want that to be useful somehow. Right now it does absolutely nothing! The intuitive thing would be for Ovi Suite to sync my calendar, contacts, notes, everything that is available in Ovi.com, automatically. Both ways, as well. There's no reason to have two different products, both called Ovi, that aren't communicating at all.

Just keep the calendar basic, just like on Ovi.com, but make sure it's there and available without external software dependencies like Outlook.

In my opinion you would not need a real calendar application. But if you want to, use some kind of iframe for the OVI cal. webapp (with offline support, of course), which syncs with the cloud as soon as OVI-suite goes online again.

Hi,
Just installed the new OVI suite, every thing looks great but...
the most imported feature for me is the calendar view, that is missing.
I have no use of the OVI suite like this. I hope the next version will include this view.

Thanks,
David

Fri, 2009-11-06 18:03 mikebrugge: Calendar view

A full calendar in Ovi Suite should be usefull to stop the need of bying Outlook for personal use.
The Calendar in Ovi online does not support copying items from one day to another. An offline program like Ovi Suite should make this possible.
Sorry for my English, but I'm Dutch speaking.
