Suggestion for Sports Tracker

Chart Smoothing factor function of Excercise time

The charts, like altitude and speed per distance become very early during the workout so jagged and crowded that it is very hard to find any useful information. The longer the workout, the harder they are to read. They practically display random noise.

One way to see the workout, is to go to chart smoothing, and increase the value, such as 180 after riding bike for an hour. This is reset for every use of NST,and I usually don't bother playing with it, since I tend to be more occupied with the sport than my phone.

what if the charts were smoothed with a gliding average X where X is a function of time (or distance, I haven't really thought it through.)

Like in my case, instead of entering 180 for a one hour bike trip, I might have a sticking setting that I always wish to view my charts smoothed by Tx3 (180@t=60, 360@t=120 etc...) And having this setting stick would be great.

Like If I were to ride bike (ok... car ;) )over Appalachian mountains, it would be great to be able to see the mountain silhouette instead of random noise.

Indeed! Also the speed graph

Indeed! Also the speed graph becomes almost unreadable due to gps errors (showing the speed at 0 at many places). It'd be nice to have an option to delete these 0 speed points from the graphs - just average out the graph to the next found reading. The chart would look MUCH better.

Unrelated but mentioned before in this forum, so I don't want to start a new topic: please code an option to resume an interrupted workout, or merge interrupted separate workouts afterwards. (Software close due to user error, program crash, battery running out etc creates several workouts instead of the intended one single workout.)

Also, it'd be nice to add music manually later (I'm using an external mp3 player, not Nokia music player.)

Great service otherwise!

Yesterday I went walking

Yesterday I went walking near the city centre with Sports Tracker on. The GPS acted out funnily at times, occasionally missing the right spot with quite a few metres, making the recorded path all wiggly where it should've been straight.

So, similarly to the proposition I made about the speed graph, it'd help a lot if these wrong points in the map could be erased afterwards. I mean, I have a recorded path that goes from A->B->C, but point B is in a completely wrong place, and if I could just remove it altogether and make the recorded path go straight from A to C, it'd be correct.

Oh one more thing....

When displaying the graph, I would like to see a red dot on the rightmost edge of the screen to indicate the current measured speed (or altitude, depending on the graph)
