I would not have an issue with this app if it were installing on my N95 8Gb, but memory appears to be a very valuable comodity in the N97. Seems rediculous that the phone has 32GB of Mass Storage Memory, but only 256MB of NAND Memory and 128MB of DRAM Memory.
This could mean that N97 users could be seeing the old "Insuffience Memory" warnings a lot.
Back to the review:
When I installed the app my memory reduced by c.7mb which is a lot when prior to install I only had 19.4MB free.
Looks like I need to do some serious housekeeping as the initial FW / SW supplied on the N97 is all installed in the Phone Memory. Maybe deleting all apps/widgets hat can be transfered to the Mass Storage Memory and re-insatlling them on the Mass Storage Memory could save me the hassle of running into single figues of megs of Phone Memory.
Looking into this further my N95 8Gb available memory is as follows:
Maximum User Storage 8 GB
Free Executable RAM Memory 90 MB
NAND Memory 256 MB
SDRAM Memory 128 MB
The noticeable differenece here is the extra 90MB of "Free Executable Memory". Maybe this makes the all importatnt difference on the N95 8Gb.
Further investigation identifies (via Active File) that the N97 drive sizes are as follows:
C: 73MB Phone Drive
D 43 MB (RAM)
E: 29.8GB (Mass Storage)
Z: UNKNOWN (ROM)
Using Active file on my N95 8GB identifies the following:
C: 133.8MB Phone Drive
D: 80.9MB (RAM)
E: 7.5GB (Mass Storage)
Y: 1.2MB
Z: UNKNOWN (ROM)
You must admit the size of the C: drive in the N97 is rediculous when the E: drive has been made so much bigger than that of the N95.
I realise this post does not talk that much about the application itself, but the main issue I have is that the application needs to be smaller as the N97 does not permit the user to install as much software as they like unlike the N95 8Gb. Sorry Tommi.
