Suggestion for Sports Tracker

Acrilus Mon, 2009-07-20 21:31

Import gpx & kml routes/tracks

Sports tracker can export routes/tracks to gpx or kml files, but it can not IMPORT them.
Why???? It would be great to have the capability to IMPORT these kind of files and follow them with NST.

Thats exactly what I am thinking too!!! To import kml would be a very important function.

You already can . . .

Go to the Sports tracker website (sportstracker.nokia.com)

Log in (You should be taken directly to your "Dashboard".

At the bottom of the "Latest Workouts" (Right of Map) you should see "Create workout manually" and "Import workout".

Click on "Import workout".
(You can now import a .GPX file)

This has been there for as long as I can remember, and my memory is still pretty good. ;-)

No, you already can't...

You can only import a GPX file to the Dashboard (in a deficient way). But you CAN NOT import a GPX file directly to the phone, open it and follow it. That is what I want.

This is a good feature

I agree with Acrilus and JensG. This function would be very useful and practical, in order to have the chance of importing routes in gpx and klm formats that other people have made.
Nokia Team, please take note of this.

OK. It was not clear that you meant your phone. My appolgies.

The ability to import routes has been something that was requested month back, but we have heard nothing back on this subject.

The original request was to be able to upload routes from the web service to the phone, so that you could have groups shared routes or pick a route from another running in an area you are in or are going to and upload it t your phone and run it.

As I say we have heard nothing back on this.

Yes, that would be nice but fix the import to the web first.

If I upload the workout to the Dashboard directly from the phone i get all the data. I can see the route and I get the workout profile.

If I export it as a GPX-file and then import it to the Dashboard.I only get the "highlights" and the max speed is wrong. (I can't find that speed even by grepping the gpx-file itself.) But no route on the map and nothing in the Workout Profile.

But the data is there in the gpx-file:

(Hmm.. xml tags not shown)

---clip---

39.5
12.9
172.4
Speed 12.9 km/h Distance 1.69 km
2009-07-07T14:33:00.21
1872

---clip----

The problem is, that I would like to edit the workout by chopping out something from the. I sometimes forget the stop the workout and then when I drive away in my car the workout is not exactly what I want.

So I have this:

http://sportstracker.nokia.com/nts/workoutdetail/index.do?id=1362571

Then I edited it in an editor and chopped away the "car driving" part:

http://sportstracker.nokia.com/nts/workoutdetail/index.do?id=1362960

But as you can see. Hardly no information at all.

I also tested with another workout without editing the gpx-file. Same thing happened. So the reason is not that I edited it...

web import and phone import

Hi,

I use sportstracks software besides nokia sportstracker website. unfortunately, GPX files created with that software seem like they can be imported, but in fact they cannot, data is empty (date is 0/0/0 for ex). Problem can be on both side though

More importantly, I add my voice to those who request an import feature on the phone ; I would really love to be able to prepare my cycling itinerary in advance and have it on my phone for navigation
