Wed, 2009-09-02 20:59 bitflung: how do i change the "home" location?

when i selected my "home" location, i saw a prompt that i believe described how to modify this at a later time. sadly i dismissed that message quickly, expecting to be able to figure it out when i'd gone through all the settings screens exploring the new software... right, you see where this is going: i don't know how to do it.

any help? how do i change which landmark is my "home" landmark for Drive Home, or Walk Home feature?

Tue, 2009-09-08 17:56 jel: Use predictive keyboard in Favourites

I have full screen QWERTY as the default input method in my 5800XM. This makes using the search function in Places very awkward in portrait mode, especially since using search is rather inavoidable when version 3.03(54) allows places to be sorted only by distance to 'current' location. It is quite nasty when the keyboard suddenly flips to landscape, and I have to use two hands to hold the phone or to try and type with one hand when the keyboard is 90 degrees rotated.

This could be avoided by using the same predictive keyboard as Contacts uses uses when you type text into the search box, which looks the same as the search box in Places.

Thu, 2009-09-10 19:49 ravidavi: How about a freaking "back"

How about a freaking "back" button so that we can go back from one of the favorites submenus (eg Places, Routes, ...) to the main favorites menu? Right now you have to return to the main homescreen and go back to favorites. This is basic GUI design, people.

Settings->Navigation->Home Location. Many things are in the settings, have a look through them.

Sun, 2009-09-13 19:01 paw: still too many double taps!

It is getting much better BUT there are still inconsistencies in the use of double tap and single tap. Why so many double taps still required in some menus...

Eg tap Favorites from main menu (1 tap), Places (2 taps), a specific favorite (2 taps) - not needed and inconsistent with rest of maps and S60 UI.

Fri, 2009-09-18 00:25 axelbeiovi: map display of certain categories

N95
The settings of ovi maps allow to choose which categories of POIs shoud be displayed. I think it would be useful to allow to do the same kind of choice with the user's own favourites! I saved several Favourites on my phone, I organized them by categories, and I'd like to chose which of them should be displayed on the map.

Fri, 2009-09-18 00:35 axelbeiovi: organizing Favourites - tool included in PC Suite or Map Loader?

It's very difficult to create and organize Favourites!
- impossible to import POI libraries
- impossible creating Favourites by coordinates
- if you want to organize them by categories, or delete them, you must move them one by one - no multiple selection is possible
- would be helpful, if it would be possible to choose to isplay only the uncategorized favourites. So you can see which favourites are new and have still to be assigned to a category. Useless the current solution: it's useless to display all the favourites together. Once you have 30 or more favourites it we be only a chaos!!!

It could be very useful to create an administration tool for the favourites, included in PC Suite or Map Loader. The ones written above should be the main functions of the tool, and also it should be possible to import POI-libraries.

Fri, 2009-09-18 08:20 mbrett: You should be able to create Favourites by Coordinates.

If not within Maps you can open the separate Landmarks app and generate them in there and these will appear in Maps.

You can also import Favourites. I beleive you do it using lmx files. When I have more time I will explain this further, or in the interim you could do a quick google.

Tue, 2009-09-29 20:00 JoltanBlue: Description Attribute

When I select a landmark I've saved to My Favorites, the only attributes that are displayed are address, phone and link. Why is that points saved to My Favorites don't have description attributes?

I can only see the description in the Landmark Explorer but not directly in Ovi Maps.

And there's plenty of space when I see the details tab of a landmark in Maps.

Nokia should add this field in the future release.

Mon, 2009-10-26 20:58 thomaskj: Back Button for favourites

I saw another comment along the same lines. Just want to reiterate that a back button is an essential feature that's missing favourites
