Photos might sync now?
Hooray, photos on my phone might actually appear on my PC now. I look forward to trying it out. Will video sync be next?
Same here, but some photos
Same here, but some photos got lost. Ovi suite doesn't sync every photos from my phone to my PC. Like my last saturday party photos are lost (I can find them from my phone, but suite do not sync them).
Where is Video sync???!!
Vista SP2
Nokia N79 fw30.019
No Photos are found on my phone...
Either the ones taken with the camera on my N97 or the ones that i copied there on my SD card.
Proxy support ?
At work, Ovi Suite can't check for updates nor log into Ovi.
Looks like it assume an "open" internet connection and doesn't deal with proxies.
Strongly recommended to either use the Windows internet settings (= IE settings) or allow to fill in a proxy server like in FF.
One more comment:
Instead of view -> go to etc. why don't you put the icons for the different screens on the home screen as well ? Makes life easier to switch.
Synchronization hangs
Syncing is taking ages since I upgraded to the latest beta. It hangs for about 5 minutes while preparing the synchronization for the pictures. This only happens with the first synchronization after connecting my 5800, subsequent synchronizations happen in one or two seconds. After reconnecting the phone, it's again taking over 5 minutes.
There are only about 20 photos on my phone. Everything worked fine with the previous version.
To loekf
Hi Loekf
Ovi Suite uses IE proxy settings for updates. Looks that there might be something else wrong if you're not able to check updates. Can you please describe exactly how to reproduce the problem and error messages or dialogs that you got. Also would need your system information from Help > About Nokia Ovi Suite > System information. Are you trying to connect from home or office and via LAN or WLAN?

Music sync takes ridiculous amount of time
Hi,
Music sync still isn't really usable for my n97. I left it syncing via usb, overnight, to a music library identical to the one on the phone. When i woke up the next day it was only about 20% done.
What is happening?
I don't know what was happening, but when I was creating a playlist what häd more that 3900 songs Ovi suite started to say: " can't continue refressing playlist." Well it continued what it was doing (what it was doing anyway?) And now it looks like it's ok. Is that critical?

I wan't to post a new bug. I
I wan't to post a new bug. I don't know is it related to my earlier post but yesterday I started to sync that playlist to my phone. Up right corner Ovi suite says total size of songs are 2,9gb. Well after night (because sync is very slow to use so I left it overnight) I opened my phone and it said: "Memory full......". Ovi suite was also crashed on my system.
I have 8gb memory card in my phone and Ovi suite said 2,9gb would be enought. But I have to say, my card is now totally fulled with music. I don't know did it sync everything from playlist. I don't know how to tell the sitsuation to you better but ask more questions if needed. You asked my email and it is: masameland (@) aim.com
And last my phone model is terrible bad Nokia N79
edit: I use iTunes, but it was not running when I was creating playlist or syncing playlist to my phone.
edit 2: Why it takes like 10 minutes to start photo sync. It does take about 10 minutes to sync them every time I connect my phone to system. No matter how many photos I have taken or none photos taken.
edit 3: Why it crashed my phone after music sync?? It do not take response to anything now. This is great! "sigh"
Comments about music/photos
I just installed the Ovi 2.0 beta today for the first time.
My initial comments and suggestions regarding few things. Will add more as i use it more.
1) By default in the Watch Folder list, there is /MyDocuments/MyMusic folder. I want to delete that folder, but can't delete it. Generally people store music in different folders. not the My Music folder, so there should be an option to delete that folder from the list.
2) There is no option to edit the Folder path. One can only delete and re-browse to the desired folder.
I think we should have an option to double-click on the folder path to edit it by opening explorer pointing directly to the folder, so that we can then navigate from there to where i want. IF someone wants to navigate to an entire different folder, you already have the option to add new folder, but edit will also help, i am sure.
Same thing applies to the watch folder in photos section too.
3) I have FireFox as my default browser. When i clicked on "Send Feedback...." link on the Ovi Suite 2.0 on my Ovi Suite beta, it opened this page in my firefox browser. Thats good. But when i clicked on the "Ovi Music" link in the Ovi Suite, it opened Internet Explorer? Why? Don't understand that?
4) Initially when i had no music in my Ovi Suite folders, it shows options on the right site in the music window, where you can add a Watch folder and do other things.
But once, i created one Watch folder and created a play list, i couldn't find any of the above options in the open music window. I was confused, that where did it go? Couldn't find anywhere by doing right click or clicking on any other labels. Spent 5 minutes or so trying to know what went wrong. Then i clicked on Tools > Options > Music, under which i found those options again.
So i think, this is again a mistake in terms of UI. I am a computer geek, so i play around a lot with different things and can figure it out relatively easily like this time than someone who is not a computer geek. Those kind of public(majority) will get irritated and confused (like i was initially for first 5 minutes) with this kind of UI. I think you should include the link to Music options right in the open Music window rather than in the Tools> Options window. Believe me, this will make life lot easier for all the common public and will increase the user satisfaction to a dramatic level.
Similarly for Contacts, photos, etc, you should have an options button in their own respective window, rather than all accumulated under Tools>Options window. I don't think there is any major chnage involved in doing that as compared to current setup. Only thing required is that you remove the options from the Tools menu and put options link in each window, clicking on which opens up the same windows that currently open up from under Tools>Options.
Believe me, this will definitely improve user interaction and experience, and you yourself will enjoy using Ovi suite more than now.
5) Also, in photos section, the thumbnails don't get updated lot of times(appear blank), when you scroll up and down using the side bar. Initially i though it happens, since i just started the Ovi Suite, but thats not the case, even after it was open for more than 30 minutes, still the thumbnails remain blank sometimes while scrolling up and down. Also, when navigating photos, even after Ovi suite being open for such a long time, few photos still appear blurred when you navigate to them.
I will have more inputs as i use the Ovi Suite more.

contacts work, photos don't
Wow. Today for the first time I was able to sync contacts on my N97 with 2.0, never worked before.
Photos still don't sync.
Photo Browser
I have a similar issue to hary536 , except it is re the photo browser
Specifically the default watch folder is C:\Users\MyName\Pictures\ - a setting that is fixed and therefore makes Ovi Suite unusable as it presents my entire pc image collection.
What I want to use Ovi Suite to do is to ant to be able to do is organise the images taken on my mobile and the images I want to have access to on my mobile.
This would be possible if I could choose the folders Ovi suite follows - I have a sub-folder for mobile images.
The way Ovi Suite is set up makes it look as if Ovi Suite is intended as a total media management application, which seems to me to be a mistake - the application should focus on managing the content on the device not the PC
I have a secondary problem which is that Ovi Suite can't find the images on my N97 - then again, neither can I. They appear under downloads, but "Details" shows a blank under location
staying clear for now
i know i first praised this app in my review but at the moment i dont use it because i need to able to sync my windows calendar and contacts with the phone and im often using the folder sync to sync my activenotes to the pc.
Also there should be a function to autosync ovi pc app with ovi web service to avoid errors if you also sync your phone to the web service.
Oh and i would like to see some calendar sharing function soon so i can sync with my google calendar.

few things added
Hello Puumis,
I haven't yet tested Ovi Suite extensively, but saw that the new build has atleast one of my suggestions implemented.
One can now delete the default Watch folder. So that's good. (I find it useful as i may have some pictures/music in the MyPhotos/MyMusic folder, which i don't want to synchronize with my phone/ovi.
So i can now delete it.
However, yesterday i had to do a soft-reset of my phone using *#7370#.
Later when i hooked up my phone with Ovi suite, it synced the contacts fine.
It then tried to sync the messages(Text messages) from Ovi to my phone. (There were only 2 messages). It kept syncing and syncing, and did not complete for atleast 10 minutes, after which i lost patience and stopped the sync.
I haven't tried again syncing the messages.
So you may want to look into this issue.
Also one of the issues still remains which i described above in my post.
"I have FireFox as my default browser. When i clicked on "Send Feedback...." link on the Ovi Suite 2.0 on my Ovi Suite beta, it opened this page in my firefox browser. Thats good. But when i clicked on the "Ovi Music" link in the Ovi Suite, it opened Internet Explorer? Why? Don't understand that?"
Also, i would still like to re-iterate my suggestion for the UI improvement, i suggested in my previous post above. I know this is a beta-test forum and not UI, but i believe, you can pass on the message to the right persons. IF i was the software engineer, i can do the desired change in
less than 1 hour, it just requires placing the links to a different location, but the benefit gained will be more than the effort required to do that.
Photo folder on external HDD
Hi guys,
This is my first post here.
I've been using Ovi Suite for some time already, and it has been working quite well. I'm no heavy user so I haven't used all the features.
I noticed one thing just now: I have my photos on an external HDD which is connected to my PC via USB. I tried to select the photos folder as my watch folder in Ovi Suite but it can't be done. The OK button in the browser turns grey when I browse through the external HDD. I can select any folder from an internal HDD however.

MUSIC PLAYLIST
Hi, im a huge fan of nokia ever since! my first phone was a nokia 5110 i recall. anyways, as a huge music lover like a lot of people here, i would like to suggest some things regarding PLAYLISTS.
1. I hope i could be able to add or delete specific songs in existing playlists ON MY PHONE using the ovi suite. (hopefully by just dragging and dropping or pressing delete)
2. Its such a hassle and i dont know why my other playlists created using the old music interface of PC SUITE, wont appear in the OVI suite.
3. It would be nice if managing my music playlists of my phone was more "free", while doing and managing it all using the OVI Suite.
PLAYLISTS (again)
Totally agree.. please please please don't release it yet... Kept using it for 3 days now and its still a bit slow... sluggish really...
about the "music" part of OVI, i cant even view some songs inside my playlist which i used my phone to create... i cant understand this... why is it like that? does making a playlist from the phone create a different playlist format?
EXAMPLE: I create playlist "A" using the OVI suite. The playlist has 5 songs in it. once i disconnect my phone and im on the go, i decide to put 2 new songs into the playlist (using my phone). Once I get home and connect it to OVI suite, the 2 new songs DO NOT APPEAR in the playlist "A" instead i still see the first 5 old songs which i originally placed. Why cant the OVI suite detect the 2 new songs which i placed?
Is it really suppose to behave like that?
Hope to hear any comments from you... Thanks!
