Discussion for Sports Tracker

Tue, 2009-10-13 19:55 stew-b: my heart rate band is faulty?

had my N79 active for a couple of months now and the band has been extremely unreliable,it seems to flatten the band battery in only a few hours so i started unclipping it after use to save the battery, this didnt work so i reverted to actually removing the battery.
i ordered 10 cr2025 batteries and gone thru 5 in about 4 hours actual use.....
my GPS stopped working on sportstracker so i had to do a hard factory reset and reinstall 2.06 sportstracker, this fixed the GPS problem but now the band will not register at all,the pair option is still there but just says no belt found, the belt is also not found under the phones bluetooth pairing function....
this is all getting very frustrating as the HR is simply the only reason i bought the active,i have a perfectly good n82 that i can use with normal sportstracker.
has anyone got any expierence of this and how on earth do i set about having it exchanged?? i purchased the phone from nokias own webshop in the UK.
THANKS!

Thu, 2009-10-22 13:56 djh.sthlm: Polar for Nokia power consumption

I've been using my N79 AE for 40 to 100km running a week since May and can offer a few suggestions. I have gone through eight batteries in this time.

Immediately after a workout you should turn off Bluetooth on your handset. The Polar unit can remain paired with your phone even though the app has been exited and you have removed the belt. Add a Bluetooth shortcut to your home screen to make this easier. You should also unsnap the module from the belt immediately after your workout and rinse the belt thoroughly.

Just because a battery is new doesn't mean it has a full charge. Buy reputable a brand from a store with a high inventory turnover of CR2025. Excessive and improper handling of the batteries can easily result in shorting.
