Bugreport for Nokia Music PC Client

Mon, 2009-02-09 14:00 Antrikshy: It is not compatible with the 5800 XpressMusic, which is a music phone.

Well, I was really excited on finding a music manager like iTunes for my Nokia phone. I installed it and connected my new 5800 to it. It said that it detected a 5800 instead of my phone's name, so, I deduced that it is perfectly compatible. But, when I began to Auto-Transfer the music, the application crashed suddenly. It happens everytime I connect my phone if I have selected that it must transfer everytime I connect. So, it means that it hangs when the transfer begins. Also, the Nokia Music site says that my 5800 isn't compatible. How can it be possible that a music phone isn't compatible with such a software.

All my music that I was copying was unprotected, from original music CDs and I have no problems in syncing it with my iPod. I can import it nicely and all.

Also, it would be great if it would be possible to sync it easily with my phone like iTunes. So, include a big button with that option. I have great problems with my phone's DRM protected content too. Nokia Music doesn't display it in the phone. I would love to transfer it to my PC.

Hi Antrikshy,

I've recently entered the musical world of the Nokia 5800 and "Comes With Music" and my PC and device are syncing fine so far. I'm currently running Version 1.2 of the Nokia Music PC Client, which for me auto updated (with prompt to confirm update).

It's also syncs while still playing audio in the PC Client. I haven't seen any hang yet.
I was also interested by your comment "Also, the Nokia Music site says that my 5800 isn't compatible."
That may have been the case in Feb '09, I'm not sure. However it certainly is listed now and works.

Give it another try, perhaps it was a bug and now is fixed... Good luck.

Regards,
Paul
