Bugreport for Ovi Maps 3.0 Beta for mobile

Sun, 2009-02-22 05:34 Zii: Not Enough Memory on N95-1 v31 (after deleting cities folder and qf file)

Nokia Maps v3 is really unstable, to put it into perspective i can't even get the application to start.

Even after deleting the cities folder and files, even after reformatting my N95-1 and 6GB card, , even after trying to install it on the phone memory without a memory card inserted... I stilll end up with "not enough memory to start application".

Has this been anticipated in N95-1 v31 or am i doing something wrong?

Please let me know, thanks.

Sun, 2009-02-22 15:36 B.S.: check available space on phome memory

I had the same with my N95 8GB. I tried half aday to instll Maps3.0 on my phone an got all time the the failure massage not enough memory, before I realliezed that my phone memory is up to 97% full.

After deletion of my send items the phone memory usage was by 56% and the installation of Maps 3.0 was easy as cookies eating.

Hi Zii,

Sorry to hear that you are still having issues with the Maps 3.0. If you still get the "Out of memory" when starting the application, try deleting the "cities" folder, qf file and re-running the Nokia Maps Loader (as suggested by mbrett).

Let me know if this resolves the issue.

Thanks,

Kee

Sat, 2009-05-23 16:23 Zii: Still no go...

Hi guys, tried the updated version of Maps Updater and still does not have enough memory to run.

I tried it with a sandisk 8GB ultra Class 6 as well as a Sansisk 16gb Class 2. Both are original so i think we can say it's probably something to do with the was Ovi Maps interprets the space available. Any update on a solution kee?

B.S., thanks for your suggestion. I have 95MB free space on my phone memory right now.

Sat, 2009-05-23 20:17 mbrett: Also try the following:

How many applictions do you have running?

I beleive that the not enough memory does not refer to the drive that the cities and qf file are on but refers to the much smaller memory area where the apps operate from. Do you run applications in the background? If so exit them and then try again. Try installing something like JBak Taskman to see what applications you have running (nb If you view running processes and hiden apps you will find loads but do not exit these as these will be system processes and may crash phone.

Sun, 2009-05-24 05:59 Zii: I already have JBak and on

I already have JBak and on average i have >17mb RAM to work with., though upon boot i have about 21MG. Only have VibrateCall by TongRen running in the background now as i just formatted my phone a few days back to try Ovi Maps again.

Has anyone successfully run this on an N95-1 with v31?
