I was using it for all my trips to keep in touch, privately, with my family. :[ My children even thought it was cool and used it as well with me. Now I guess we'll have to write our own :)

I suggest getting into python, web server on nokia and http://openlayers.org in the browser.

As you may have read from the Beta Labs blog, the Friend View project is now completed. It has been moved to the Beta Labs Archived section and will be discontinued (shut down) on September 30th: http://betalabs.nokia.com/blog/2009/09/01/friend-view-project-completed

Not everybody use or like facebook, nokia friedview is perfect for their phones, just like IM and PoC client, so decision to close friendview, an application that has been invested and created, is not wise.

For those that do not use Twitter or in addition use laconi.ca based sites (i.e. identi.ca, brainbird.co.cc, mozillaca.com) It'd be great to see it integrated with them as well as twitter.

On Friday, drawing of map content in the web browser interface was restored. However, there is a problem where there can be random variations in the drawn placement of avatars, and in setting manual location with a web browser. We're investigating what the cause may be.

Lets start by some numbered idears to help keep track of them:
1- sales force tracking and reporting
2- sales force on the move (door to door and exibits to last minute tickets and drug dealers)
2- Delivery fleet tracking (pizza to truck driver)
3- Family tracking (childrens to helders)
5- Social networking (sharing lunch, dinner, drinks)
6- [The user refers to the only R-rated physiological need in the Maslow's hierarchy of needs, with a few examples]
7- parking spot sharing
8- personal services (translation, finding your way)

Friend View's web browser user interface currently has an issue with drawing map content. This started on Friday 7.8. We're working to resolve this, but it will still take some time.

I'll agree with twitter support too, although I'm not sure how the integration with contacts on OVI would work (IM and micro blogging are quite separate in my book).

Another option would be integrating it into OVI Contacts.

Do like the idea of geolocated twittering though. Recently suggested the incorporation of geolocation into Gravity (www.mobileways.de), by far the best paid for 3rd party twitter client I have managed to find.

Would be nice if Nokia created an inbuilt twitter feature though. They're incorporating Skype into the N97, so why not twitter.

I wish Nokia had a great Twitter client for S60. A good (free) one is really missing in the Symbian world.

Please develop one, or integrate Friend View with Twitter.

I usually notice it just too late when my friend has been to the hardware store, and when i am there my self, I forget something. So my suggestion is, could it be possible to give me or anyone of the friends chosen an alert or message when approaching the hardware store or some other location?

Well, why to create new if you can follow what the competitiors are doing... Google's Latitude is integrated into Google maps. Why couldn't Friend view be integrated into Ovi maps... A lot easier this way. More popular also... I sure hope this friend view will soon be launched in Ovi store. Clock is ticking!
