Suggestion: What would make Nokia Messaging - IM Beta perfect? by adrianogalifi

Today i tried Nokia Messaging IM. It's going good, but need some improvements so it can be perfect:
1) All the Services should be in one tab. Why? Its kinda annoying keep switching between all your services.
2) You should be able to modify message volume. Why? When you get a Message its too loud, at least for me on my Nokia E71 - Windows Live Service.
3) There should be an option to rename your contacts. Why? at least i find this more useful that their own nicknames.
4) More Services support: Skype, Facebook, Twitter, Jabber, ICQ and many others. Why? Everybody use most of them.

4) More Services support: Skype, Facebook, Twitter, Jabber, ICQ and many others. Why? Everybody use most of them.
5) It should allow you upload your personal avatar for Windows Live Community. Why? I really would like it, i have been looking for this feature and no one offers it.
6) Chatting screen is just kinda small, it should be more bigger. Its kinda awful, since the chat screen is too short so you have to scroll almost everytime to keep an eye in the chat.
7) There should be a pop up notification back in Home Screen. Why? Sometimes we are busy or away from phone, so it will be really nice that it informs us that we got a message.
8) it should be integrated with Contacts tab as Ovi contact does. Why? I really find this more useful.
9) There should be more options, so we can customize this nice program by our own. Example: Hide offline people.
10) It should show avatars (MSN Service). Why? I really enjoy this feature.
11) chat timestamps. Why? Because you need know most time when did you get a message, mostly if you were away from your phone.

You guys are doing a nice job! Hope some of these suggestions come live!. I really enjoy its user-friendly and also its own theme is cool. Its really great, but could be improved with some or all these suggestions i made.

Thanks in advance,

also
- one screen for all communities rather than switching tabs between ym to google talk. you can tag a contact with the relevant community icon to know which community ie. ym, or google a contact is registered to. check out other chat apps like ebuddy, or fring.
- how do you send a "chat" to a group... i'm not talking about "conferencing", just like sms, you want to drop a message to multiple contacts ?
- if you've inputed your friends emai/chat id in contact, shouldnt their names appear on the chat contact list instead of their email/chat ids ? you know email ids are a lot of times very different from the users' real names, thus confusing us who a chat id is, especially when your friends have similar names the johns, davids, tonis...
- hide offlines

understand that this is still in beta, but some "standards" that are already in other chat apps should be there... the bar has been set higher by these chat apps, nokia's chat should meet even overleap it.

1. It's very difficult to jump from conversation to other and you also have to move between messengers. All friends should be in same screen or at least choice to do so. You should try quickly Fring or Slick. Ok.. They have own limitations but at least those works just fine.
2. If there is system limitation that E71 can not show message notifications on front screen then why other messengers are able to do it just fine?
3. Chat screen is wasting a lot screen space. At least three rows on the top could be replaced with one row and why there is so nice "options and hide" buttons on main screen but not in chat screen?
4. And so on... :)

Great to see at last live messenger support in this software...

some suggestions ..

1. add feature for auto refreshing of contact list..

2. grouping of contacts in gmail as per status..

3. pls add invisible status in gmail..

4. once the app notifies the user for a chat message received and the user navigates to that screen, it should focus on the updated conversation and not on the last place where the user left the screen..

5. it should have the feature of default access point and then try connecting thru it.. if not available then ask for other access points..

6. option for hiding offline contacts..

Hi,

First of all thanks to Nokia for making this IM software. This is what I was exactly looking for.

There is a bug I found in the Nokia Messaging Chat. Sometime it logs in without any trouble and sometimes it shows error : "A temporary service problem. Try again later. (Code 2)". I'm using Nokia E63. I try to login for many times but it continuously shows this error and after sometime, it gets resolved itself. The time when I get this error, I tried logging using Nimbuzz and I was able to use my Gtalk and Ymessanger without any trouble. It means there is a problem with this software. Please look into the matter as I only recommend Nokia and want to use it's software for life.

Thanks in advance!

Bugreport: Software problems by ortegarcarlos

I have a E71 and I consider that the software is kind of difficult to connect to, is very slow compared to for example Nimbuzz and my phone gets very slow when i use Nokia messaging. Besides, when I want to sign out, It takes like for ever for my phone before I can do any other task. In reference to Messenger, I cannot arrange my contacts the way I want to. I would like to have the option to see the online contacts altogether. Also, I have had to reboot my phone a couple of times while using Nokia messaging because my phone simply stops working.

I think it is a great idea that Nokia releases it own community service, however I consider that It has to be improved a lot.
