Hello zoomyY,

Thank you for trying Live View. The app needs a cellular data connection or wifi to download the points of interest to accurately provide the points of interest

Ashok Ravula

working Offline like Ovi Maps synch is better

yes, but if it could get the informations offline like ovi maps. you install a map (for example USA) and got the informations whats there, not informations about how old it is, how tall etc. just whats there.

sry for bad english

I would like to request offline support. I don't have a data plan, but if I get POI's via wifi near where I am traveling, I would like it to use the cached points of interest while I am walking.

Maybe a feature where you can download POI's (like what can be done in the map program) for X number of miles from current location (or specific location, city, state, etc).

LV could read the data from the offline maps of "nokia maps"

@Navio, I'm not sure what you are saying. I'm not even sure what LV is and I'm not sure why I would want to use a 3rd party program for reading the data....?

@Davidstoll
with LV, I mean live view, the name of this app.
I try to explain better, I use Nokia maps in offline mode and I saved on my mobile all maps, in the maps data there is also the POIs, the idea is that live view could read these data when you are abroad or you have no data plan. The number of the POIs on the offline maps is lower than the one of online, but always better than pay a lot of money for roaming.

@navio1973, so basically you are saying, "if maps can do it, this should/could too"?

Yeah, it would be great. POI's wouldn't take that much space even if they had to be re-downloaded, but using the POI's already in maps would be more efficient. However, that assumes you have downloaded maps for your area....but hey, if they are available, why not use them...right?

Hello davidstoll,

Thank you for trying Live View and the discussion. Currently Live View does not support offline places nor it makes use of the offline data from maps, we will evaluate this suggestion on offline support for future. Stay tuned for the updates!

Like it very much. Maybe some helpful addition is add-on is to load in the information for offline use on holiday. This could be done on city/area or country level.

However, keep up te good work!

App works fine on my n8-00 although very difficult instalation (down several times).
It needs active net connection and AGPS turned on... (why is this necessary when build in GPS and saved data on ovi maps can be used) Navigation can navigate with saved maps and places can be searched and viewed offline.
Same feature (offline modus) should be added to to the App. to provide functionality for places with no or poor internet connection.

Being able to download the POI of the area, so there would be an offline mode on this app, like ovi maps, better yet sync ovi maps and this app for offline mode capabilities

anyways how do you check for updates of the apps, u arent notified on the web ? or im not seeing it

I'm adding my support for this, mainly because I think Nokia Maps (via the web, or phone) and things like LiveView should have just ONE central database of POIs that can be downloaded for offline use.

The POIs in LiveView show up differently to the ones built into Nokia Maps, and there are more different ones again when using Nokia Maps online.

Sería bueno que la aplicación usara el gps integrado, al igual que lo hace la aplicación Maps. En mi pais no hay wifi en cada lugar..y la conexión a internet desde el teléfono no es muy barata.

It would be nice that the application will use the integrated GPS. In my country there is no wifi in every place .. and the internet connection from the phone, not cheap (sorry for my english)

This trial has ended!
