Limit search distance

2012-05-15 @ 06:26 by albyantony
I live in Chicago, IL and I just installed this on my new Lumia 900. I was exploring the famous tab and it shows Amazon rain forest, Sydney harbor, Hollywood, etc. These places are thousands of miles away! It will be good if there is an option in the seeting to limit the distance of search to make it more practical for use. Also I believe for some reason, the compass got calibrated wrong and is 90 degrees off. Could there be an option in the settings to force it to calibrate again?

Hi albyantony,

Thanks for trying out Nokia City Lens, very much appreciated.

We track all user comments/suggestions and appreciate your feedback. We will add the search/distance suggestion for evaluation, and meanwhile, here are a couple of tips for setting the calibration:

1 - Magnetic Interference:
-----------------------------
Compass calibration can be impeded by nearby sources of magnetic interference, so try moving to a different place and then use the app or calibrate the device (if needed).

2 - Calibration:
-------------------------------------
Once launched, Nokia City Lens will let you know if calibration is required. Once prompted on screen, pls follow the directions to trace a Figure 8 w/the device in your hand, until you feel it vibrate; this is the indication that device calibration has been achieved.

With thanks and best regards,
Raj

The same thing happens on my Lumia 800 with updated firmware (1600.2487.8107.12070).

I'm in Berlin and when I select famous places, I get places from 100s and 1000s of miles away, e.g. Golden Gate Bridge, Yellow Stone national park, Petronas tower, etc.

The rest of the categories showed POIs from within commutable distances. It only seems to be a fault with Famous places.
