xmppservice issue.

2012-03-10 @ 20:40 by mmazet
Hi. I have a problem with xmppservice constantly connecting to the internet, costing me both data allowance and battery life. I'm not sure if it is related to Nokia Drop. However I have removed it from my phone and it seems to have resolved the issue. I have an N8 with Belle, and had installed the Belle version of Nokia Drop.

xmpp is connecting to internet if you have some application which is using push notification. is your drop still working? you can switch drop off and then this xmpp service should go away/offline. if you just select "back" it stays online and data consumtion should be minimal...xmpp service does not cause any other data traffic than drops in case you have only app drop which is using push notification.

Hi. I was experiencing the same behaviour as described by @mmazet and was solved by uninstalling the Drop app.
I have read in several pages that the problem could be solved by turning off the connection on drop. However, in my case, the app was already disconnected and closed.

Well, I had drop which I Uninstalled later. But this xmpp service still keeps connecting to internet, but most of the times it is labelled inactive. How shall I get rid of this xmppservice?

Nokia Pulse also using xmppservice in the background even you closed it.
you need from Nokia Pulse... sign out and exit for really terminate the network connection
I think is a bug of Nokia Pulse 0.93.6 beta is should support Push notifications, tested Nokia N8-00 Belle
