Drop it both ways

2011-04-06 @ 17:37 by avanti-m
I wish I could see it working vice versa like from the phone to the desk or laptop. Sometimes we may find it wld be easy to have a look, the URL in phone into the big screen.

I hope the pictures taken in the phone can be used as desk or laptop walls.

I wish I wld love to have the music is transfered lighting fast as the images and the URL get transfered

make it support phone to pc .too'
not just pc to phone....
and thanks

I warmly second this suggestion!

Personally I would have a lot more use for ability to e.g. send the URL of the page I'm browsing on mobile to the pc side for later use. The destination could be bookmarks of a browser, or directly a suitable service like Instapaper or delicious.

Maybe this could be introduced at the same time as the new browser? Maybe it could support bookmarklets? (i.e. bookmarks with javascript code that could access the page at hand?)

There are plenty of apps and services for sharing öedia files, why there aint app for sharing something as simple as URL?

I agree This way you could have it as

Mystuff/Coolstuff - a kind of collection or history that you could refer back to later from
multiple devices.
(forward as email to friends would be nice )

you could make windows application that runs in taskbar and add drop option in right click menu, so you could drop files from PC, not just from browser.

that would be a very usefull future upgrade

i love the application. very creative and very useful.

As a suggestion, when people are out of the house, they use their phone to surf the web, but would like to take a look at things on their computer later that night.

It would be great if i could send a link to my pc from my nokia phone.

Hi! i really enjoy the app and the communications is very fast. I also agree with the others that the connection in the oppisite direction should be also available. Sometimes I look for something on my phone going to work or home and I would like to transfer an url directly to my PC what would be really helpfull. if you could develop such a thing the app would be just perfect!

Can it works the other way round from phone to PC. Normally we sync messaging via cable or bluetooth. Can it be done via Nokia Drop in the future for the messaging.

it would of been better if we had the chance to transfer from phone to computer

Amazing software. I just loved it. Would be great if we could transfer videos and other file formats (small size)

Hi!

Feel free to post it to suggestions, though I think there is such wish already there.

The application should work both ways. That is, the computer drops to the phone, the phone should drop to the computer.

Hi!

Thanks for the feedback.

I often find myself looking at web content on my N8 and think it'd be better to look at it on a PC screen instead, so having bi-directional communication would be great. This is probably an integration into the web browser though, not necessarily an app (unless it becomes an extension to the available menu options)

Could it work both ways, ie, I would like to send stuff from my phone to pc (letss say a photo) with a single push of a button without having to connect by bluetooth or USB.

Would be nice indeed.

But well it doesn't even send photos one way....
It can only sends LINKS to the phone, and if the link is public, NokiaDrop on the phone can then fetch the content.

Didn't thought like that!!! Now it makes sense and I am clarified. I suppose that the only way was each one have a personal area (like ovi account) but with storage space and change files through it.

Yes I wish they expanded it with a small buffer.

And if not (or until then) made it more clear in the description.

It does says that it is links not images, but the general 'attitude' is transferring.
They start by
"push content to your device"
And well it does no such thing!!!
"push LINKS TO PUBLIC content to your device where NokiaDrop fetches it"
would be more accurate and correct. Or less accurate:
"push LINKS TO PUBLIC content to your device"
But much harder to write in a few words.

Not even a small plain text from the clipboard are (currently?) supported, even though this should be just as easy to transfer as an URL. They could even limit it to something ridiculously small like 200bytes, it still would be useful.

I would really love to easily push images from the phone to my browser. When watching a picture on the phone I would simply select 'drop to PC' and the image would open on the PC browser (maybe the image would be uploaded to my nokia account's image folder where my PC browser would fetch and open it).

Nokia's Play To sort of does this, but only through the TV, thus I can't save the image.

It would be great if we could "drop" the other way around. From the phone to a PC, without having to attach a photo to an email and stuff like that

Hi Nokia-Team,

i think it would be verry great if it's possible to send links in the other direction. Or more precisely: To send links from the nokia mobile to the webbrowser.

Perhaps a lot of user found some intresting links all over the day and i think it would be more comfortable to view these links later on a bigger screen at home.

Hope you realize this feature in the next version.

Best regards

Dear sir, i use nokia drop for a couple of weeks and i would like to be able to use it and on the other way..
i mean i would like to be able to send something from my phone to my pc..for example, while viewing a photo on my N8,it would make it nicer if i had a choice to send straight to my pc without connecting it with a cable or bluetooth.just using nokia drop or sth like that on the opposite way,as it works now..

Me parece muy buena aplicación me pregunto si habrá alguna forma de que trabaje en dos vías, pc-celular; celular-pc

Its a great app and it works very smoothly on my phone with Wifi i havnt tried network connections yet.
Anyway i think it would be a good idea if the phones could also send things to the computer in use. This would make the experience more fluid and promote more interaction with phones. Otherwise or as it is currently, its a 1 way communication from the pc to the phone. Except i don't know how to send from my phone to PC in which case may you instruct me on how to.

Another suggestion is; the phone can scan information (like links and bar codes etc) with the camera in offline mode. it removes the need to have the add-on installed on public computers.
