Useless proxy settings

2011-12-30 @ 13:44 by pipacs
In Settings/Options, there is a Proxy setting, but only user name and password can be set (but not the server name, port etc.).

I suggest to remove these settings entirely and use the system proxy settings instead.

Mac OS 10.6.8, Nokia Link 1.2.381.3265.

The rest of the proxy settings are configured within the operating system's own settings.

Brilliant idea. Half of the settings here, the other half there :)

Seriously, the proxy user name and password can also be configured from the System Preferences.

Well, not sure about the brilliance.

We just did not want to duplicate such operating system features. I need to check the proxy settings in Mac - and if username and password really can be configured there we may drop this from Mac.

In Windows username and password haven't been part of the OS capabilities.

Thanks,
Aki
