Just downloaded this. A quick analysis indicates that this is going to be useful. Starting to need reading glasses for a few small things (at Age 42). This might just prevent me from needing to pack the glasses around for a few things. It also looks like it might improve Nokia E71 Camera's ability to more sharply focus (the take picture feature seems to integrate the two or at least could). Maybe just add the Magnifier feature to the Camera fore a streamlined Application. Anyway, it seems to work. Keep up the good work!

I tested on my E72 (latest firmware). It tells you to press OK to autofucus, but there's no "OK"... In the Help it tells you pressing Center key will do autofocus, but that didn't work either. Pressing center of the navipad key did not work either. In short - no good.

Small, simple, effective. No bugs noticed yet. Recommended and hope it doesn't 'dissapear' Using E71 but would love to see how it performs on an N8!

I get a message "component is built in" when I tried to install on my 5230. Is it??? Or, does it simply means is not supported? Where is it on 5230, and how to use it if it is supported??? I think it means NOT supported, but why post that message??

I downloaded this application to my E71x. I work with visually impaired individuals and this application is receiving raving reviews from the many people that I've shown it to. The Nokia Magnifier is very useful to me in reading small print for example on a business card or on a menu in a restaurant. The pros are that it is quite portable and convenient and for the visually impaired may reduce the number of low vision aids that must be carried around for access to print. It alleviates the need to carry around a CCTV and Cell phone when both are provided through the singular Nokia cell phone device. Low Vison individuals and all individuals who may occasionally need to magnify print for more efficient access will benefit from this application. As a result of my sharing capability of this application with others, I've had many requests to learn more about Nokia Magnifier.

Works already pretty good on my N96. But i really miss an option to use the built in LED, because it needs much light to be used properly. So why not make use of an already existing feature? The Other thing is, that the stabilization is useless, because it slows down the process to much, so it's sheer impossible to focus an specific location. It'd be better to make use of the already built-in image stabilization which works fine with the built-in dvr-camera.

I tested it with my Nokia E72, it was a total mess. Yes, the aplication will run and it will utilize the use of your phone's camera, but it was too complicated to manuever around and the okay buttton was not working for me. I tried using my phone's camera instead, zoomed in a litte and press the optical pad having it to autofocus, much better. I'd rather use my phone's personal camera application than this one.

congratulations, it's realy a grat idea! only sin for the incompatibility with many devices that for now have... with n79 don't work only the autofocus, but all the remainder functions are ok. i will suggest the implementation of the only black/white view option: it is very important fore the visually handicapped people.

Nice, it works on E71x. Like some whined that the fonts edge are not clear and so and so, i don't care about that and nor it should make any different in this app. Its just for magnifying, which you use only temporarily. Its not a spectacle. Anyways, nice app. Works fine. Nokia E71x SV: 3.27 CV: P101.01 RM-462

This is very nice. I recently went to a restaurant and forgot my reading glasses....this would have come in very handy. I don't care for the stabilization option, but I imagine that's a matter of personal preference.

I have quite poor eyesight and the magnifier on the N96 has helped we while trying to read small print schematics. Excellent app and well worth trying out. No hassle with install or any bugs noticed as yet.

Well, the idea is good. However, on the E90 i ran into some problems. First of all, the image was upside down, making navigating the menus a bit hard. Other than that, and I guess it's e90 related, you can only use magnifier on the small screen, as using the camera requires the phone to be "closed" If there's a workaround to that, it would be great. But all in all a funny if not for me overly practical apllication

Hi, I'm actually partially sighted and decided to give this software a try with my N82, everything works well but the trouble is the nature of my eye condishion means I'm short sighted and have to put my eye near the screen of the phone in order to be able to try and read any of the text. Once I move my eye closer the screen starts to look increasingly unfocussed. I seem to be in a horrible catch 22, to read the screen I need to pull away from it to get focus, however to read it I need to get closer, increasing the zoom slightly helps but then this greatly increases the risk of image shake, even with stabilization tured on its hard to stay on target and I found trying to read at any sensible speed almost impossible. Its a fantastic idea, and well done for trying, but I just wish the software catered for people who have to get up close and personal to the phones screen. Keep up the good work though I'm sure you'll figure it out !

I tried it with my Nokia N95 8GB few facts I found 1)it requires lot of light to see properly 2) not clear at all (the edges of fonts ) 3)slow to detect and magnify Practically cannot use as a magnifier ,people will smile at you as you take more time to magnify something ...! read the complete review at : http://pspezone.com/vblog/nokia-and-symbian-stuff/my-experience-with-nokia-magnifier-for-s60-devices/ I blogs at www.pspezone.com/vblog : " Technology for Life "

Just downloaded the new release this morning to my n95-3 and the application works perfectly. "Turn stabilization on", though makes the application so slow that it's unusable in that way.

I wrote an app similar to this back on the 6680 for two reasons: 1. To learn how to write an S60 app. 2. To compensate for my presbyopia. The first thing I learned was that it is very difficult to get enough information to write an app that controls the camera. Soon after getting the info needed I discovered that my app wouldn't work on newer models. In fact, the older api was almost worthless. It is only supposition, but I'm guessing you just hit the same issue. Some 3.0 phones work but 3.1 phones (at least those I've tried) don't. What is it about us that we can't generate an API that doesn't need modification or abandonment for each new phone model? (Rhetorical question.) Regarding the app itself, you did a much better job than I did! It does what I need and a little bit more (on the N95 only.) The only reason you don't get 5 stars from me is that I'd prefer a background-resident mode that would allow me to hold down the camera shutter button and have this app start up and remain active until I release the button.

... I'm missing some stuff. 1) Changing the Folder for the pictures 2) A warning-message if I close the app and my cam-slider is still open 3) The possibility to take a picture with the normal key on my cellphone (or the Center-Button) -Somberland
