Did the auto-discovery succeed and find the mail server or did you manually enter the mail server address ? Which server are you using this client against ? Is the server behind a secure connection ? if it requires SSL I believe the problem is that the device may not have the certificates on the device installed. You need to following the installation guidelines for installing the certificate to the device.
Auto-discovery succeeded and it asked 'untrusted certificate' continue or ignore? i have selected ignore...then got synchronize now ! when pressed it it says initializing sync...and then says waiting for the network...and says will try in 60 seconds... and keep repeating the same. again and again !
"Ignore" was not the right selection. In fact, it will be removed in final product. "untrusted certificate" means that you need to install certificate first in the device.
Kindly let me know from where i can pick up the certificate for installation? generally for mail access no certificate is provided by any of the office exchange mail ADMIN !
Done the certificate installation also in the same manner explained in the installation PDF but still showing certificate not trusted.... continue or ignore?
What is next....no revert from you past 2 days...
I ws user of E73 previously before switch on to Android. Never faced such issues on Nokia ! Even though certificate is downloaded from webmail server it is still showing 'SSl certificate not trusted'!
Trust me...no one wants to go beyond R and D i have done. Iam plan to sell this phone which is 5 days old ! If anyone wants kindly mail me @ vk2604@gmail.com !
I has enough of this madness !
I suppose you copied the files both the MFE.HTML and the mfe.cer files to your device into the same directory. Please clarify one thing for me so that i can help you proceed further.
After copying the files did you open the html from the device UI(Gallery->browse the file system and open the mfe.html ) and click the link to install the certificate to the device ? if not please do so before you can proceed with the application.
After installing certificate a reboot will help sometimes.
I have copied both html and certificate to sd card memory where i have also installed MFE. I have opened the HTML and clicked on the link and installed the certificate !
I need have not rebooted the system and tried. Also i have deleted old certificate resides in the phone before installing this new certificate !
I will comeback with more once i try once again !
Hi, i did restart and used...No improvement...then i downloaded MFE from website through browser and insalled and tested....NO...same error !
Then finally i removed MFE and downloaded new MFE copy to hardisk and installed through Nokia PC suit..
same error ! this time improvised error of 'server not found'..even after the restart after installing the certificate.....
GOD bless you for writing this kind of buggy software!
It sounds like that you have installed wrong certificate to the device.
It needs to be ROOT certificate of your Exchange server.
This is needed for https connection between your client and server.
MfE client itself cannot do anything more in this situation.
We suspect your service utilise a certificate which is not a root certificate and you will need to install a root certificate. We updated instruction to help you install the root certificate over here: https://betalabs.nokia.com/c?n=49102&t=%2Fsites%2Fdefault%2Ffiles%2FNoki...
Note 1: Just for your interest if you want to understand about root certificate and certificate chains, read here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Root_certificate (As an end user you dont need to know about it, just shared for teh technical minded and want to understand more)
NOTE 2: Background on certificate steps: The additional steps required for ceritificate installation is to prevent any potential security threats on the internet. If you go to a site using a PC browser which does not use already understood certificates by the browser , the first thing the browser does is prevent you to go to that site instead making of making it easy to access the site. See for example: https://wikipedia.com/. All this is done for a reason and we should the underlying reasons why it is difficult.
After trying a lot and reading every bit of Info available...rebooting the phone after installing the root certificate given in the link also...several times....
This is not working...it showing certificate not trusted...Why don't you write prog like android exchange client where it just easy to configure the exchange mail box than your way........
May be this is the biggest reason why NOKIA is loosing market share in smart phones...
@vk2604 did you install the root certificate, kindly send me an email with details I will try and help you on this. if you have the details right it should work. I suspect something is wrong, without looking into your problem I can not comment or help you, you can send me an email on this.
Finally...i have got the mails on my NOKIA Asha 302 ! But now the challenge is Indian time zone not shown in this software ! and even though i selected rich text...it not visible at all !! Some one care to revert !!!!
Yes now that we have made the latest release on the Nokia Store can you please remove the application and download the latest software using the Nokia Store client on your mobile device. This should fix the issues you are finding with our beta quality software. IMPORTANT: Please remember to set the Store client to install to your Phone memory and not Memory card. You can do that from your Store client -> Menu->Settings
Great to know that u guys released commercial versions ! hopefully the below bugs are rectified:
1) Indian time zone not available for selection
2) New mail alert is missing in the screen i.e it is not showing new mail alert.
3)rich text is not great !
1) Indian is available
2) New mail alert is available after you have configured ActiveIdle
3) Rich text is best that can be done with Midlet and S40 - we know that it is not perfect html
guys it's not working! i have tried with my nokia email and server not found. and i have customers who complain about the same thing. any hints? kindly appreciate it, radu
@RaduGrigorescu you need to explain exactly what is not workiung we have a lot of people also using it against Nokia server and it does work well. I like to you help here but the details you give here is not sufficient to help.
@vk2604 : please try the version 1.0.5 the current commercially deployed version which should have improvements on the areas your report.
My asha 302 is not not working after completed steps from your tutorial, from: https://betalabs.nokia.com/sites/default/files/NokiaMailForExchange-Inst.... I've tried both situation phone installation and PC installation.
I can mentioned that I can see the root certificate in the settings>security>Authority certificates. The certificate is in available period.
After fulfill the credentials the message, before to connect to the server is: "SSL Certificate is not trusted" and only "Retry" options available.
There is any solution in order to solve this issue?
I'm having exactly the same problem with the commercial release of this product despite following all the advice given here (and linked here) to the letter.
Any idea of when you'll release a version of this software that works?
Thanks
I followed the instructions to upload the certificate to the phone. The earlier error of "Certificate not Found" has now changed to "Untrusted certificate". I tried to go to Security settings->Authority Certificates->certificate->select use and see the options available but the application signing option is disabled. Cross-certification & Server Authentication are enabled. Not sure if this is the reason. Please help enable this option.
my nokia asha 302's s/w version 14.53. But still mail for exchange is not working on it. Tell me how to do?
I tried lot of things but nothing seems to work. "SSL certificate is not trusted" is the error which I am getting. I have Nokia Asha 302. I regret why did I purchase it
Can't get it to work on my Asha 302 either.
I have installed our Certificate manually.
The phone can't find the server automatically, so i have enter it manually. After i click next i get the message that the Certificate is not trusted.
I dont get ignore or continue, it just want me to retry. :(
It works perfectly on iPhone and Nokia E72, what could be wrong ??
@HannesSnellmanCph : Looks like you do not have all the certificates used by your server on your device. You might need support from your Exchange server Admin , please ask all the certificates used by your server. we have additional documentation for your IT Administrator for certificate related issues
Hi - After installing/using MailforExchange, I find that the internet (GPRS/EDGE) connectivity is always ON. This drains my battery. Please help - Partha
I´m having the same problem configuring exchange. Each time I try to configure it appears a message saying that certificate is not trust or cannot find the server. This happens with exchange and imap configuration. I´ve already installed the certificate localy on the phone. I don´t know what to do more. I´ve tried several ways to configure it but it doesn´t work.
#32 Well half of the certificates i got the Nokia wont reconixe or install only the one from the OWA
My problem is that it asks for OS 14.53 and that update isn't available. Why is this so? Is there a work around? I need this for work!
Try updating with Nokia Suite on your PC. My Nokia Asha 302 also said "no update available", but Nokia Suite found the update.
@#39 Thank you, but the update wasn't found on Nokia Suite. I guess I just have to wait until it's available.
Hi, in my nokia asha 302 while synchronising it shows response unknown and autodiscovory failed. What to do?
