Menu option in Places (not for 'About' please) make it useful...

2011-10-26 @ 13:16 by JosJCD
on the bottom of the screen is the back arrow, places icon to select restaurants etc and then the menu icon. PLEASE add in some useful options there and not the About (shouldn't be in the active app menu!!) rather have things like mark a place or starred places , my favourite places or select a place or share or something that enhances one's usage of the app NOT 'About'!!! I don't want to see that there, I want a menu of options that I can use in the context of what Places is all about!

Hi Jos,

In the new Symbian framework, all of that useful stuff is moved to a higher level. We will avoid all of the old-style menus as much as possible and make access to those useful things more logical and useful.

When the Places app integrates favorites, you will be able to get to them more directly in the interface. Share will be available from the place detail.

In this menu in the future you will find things like About, Feedback, etc. These have to be in the application and this is the right place for them. The same is true of all of the apps we are developing now.

Having useful features in long options menus is a bit of pre-touch legacy that we are moving away from.

cool, glad to hear it'll be expanded, thanks
