When i use the new weather app it does work ok (most of the time).
What i did notice is that the data of the new weather app is sometimes different to the weather data that is in the guides section of maps.
I also noticed that even though it is using the same gps fix it sometimes chooses a different suburb (both suburbs are very close).
Is this normal? Should they both not provide the same information?

Hi there,
It is true that the two apps can get different data. The gps position can change ever-so-slightly, even when you are standing still. This can affect which weather station is considered closest.
The two apps use the same data source, but they are not connected otherwise.
Just some further information.
I woke up this morning (sydney, australia) & it was still warm. So i checked the new weather app.
The new app said currently 12°c. Max 18, min 8. This seemed wrong.
The location said parramatta (bold font) holroyd (small font). My suburb is actually south wentworthville.
Parramatta had somehow become my new home location although this is 10km away. (It used to show south wentworthville in bold, not anymore). Holroyd is still the council i am in so that seems accurate.
So i wanted to compare it to the old weather app in 'guides'
When i used the old weather app in 'guides' the app said currently 15°c. Max 22, min 15. That weather seemed more accurate. The location was merrylands, which is much closer than parramatta but not that far that the weather should be much different (merrylands is only 1 suburb away from me but still in holroyd). However when i go into the detailed part of the day it gave me a max of 18 min of 9. These were similar details to the new weather app. Very confusing!
Why would the detailed data for the day be different to the summary on the main page (for the weather app in guides)?
I have had issues with my 3g network in my area & occasionally my phone switches to 2g to pick up signal. So i know when i see merrylands, it is actually the 2g tower picking up signal. Does that mean the old weather app was purely network based & had no connection with gps.
Also, since the new app is now locking my home suburb as parramatta, is there some sort of caching issue? Or is it possible that the new app only uses 3g connection? Hence if 3g drops out it grabs the nearest 3g tower (10km away)?
Again i took screenshots but i dont know how to send them to you. This is all very frustrating & confusing.
