i used it on my s40 and worked very well. It provided me with lot of places that are around me. One thing i would suggest is to provide more information about each place like reviews, website information etc, which might be useful for advanced users. But it is good to see that it works on a low end S40 device too..

Opening screen looks haphazard and is an eyesore. Loads map online even with Nokia maps installed. Maps are not scrollable. Added to this is the fact that searched item is not centered on screen. Search in Nokia Maps appears to be much more useful.

Cool app! It works on Nokia Asha 302 Everything in this app is great. No need to register, just open the app and it will search for places (like hotels, restaurants, facilities, schools etc.) near you But it needs some UI adjustment/clean-up to fit and look better in the s40 320x240 resolutions Hope they come up with more features too

Great app! Nearby offers a very light interface and quickly brings results to your query. You don't have to open heavy apps to see what is around. "I want to eat at some nice restaurant nearby..." Click and voilá! It works better than other services for the same purpose. I use, mostly, "food" and "touristic spots" categories, and always get relevant results. No complain about it. I just want it to work on Nokia Belle, I miss it!

General idea. I cannot see much reason for the creation of this app. Ok, you added phone numbers and calling ability, much useful. But landmarks already exist in "maps". "eat" "drink" etc already exist in "more" section also, although hosted by third party databases. So Content A major drawback is the way data is provided in this app. It is relying on local Navteq provided info, which on many cases (like in my country) lacks accuracy and may not be what i am looking for. I also feel that they do not care about feedbacks. So they may not be interested in an existing train station for example. Or the train line's actual geometry. Or a major local food open air grocery market, taking place each weekday in different place. Or the local farms_producers_sellers (wine, grocery, pasta, liquor etc). Or this weeks fiest taking place on that monastery. All these much much interesting to nearby locals (meaning people living not exactly there but a km away, on a nearby suburb/village for example) and tourists interested in local culture. In Athens there is not only Acropolis and Keramikos as Navteq supposes. There's also the actual aquaduct they were using in ancient Athens in the center of Athens still functional (not mentioned), the quarry from which the marbles were taken still existing today (not mentioned) and millions of relevant interesting places Navteq is missing and users can provide. Interface It does not support other codepages than english, making my native language (win1253) coded landmarks unreadable. It does not have any valuation of the suggested landmark, such as how many people r looking for it, or how many stars do they give it. It does not support owner added landmarks. Otherwise it is simple to understand and use, quite fast, nicely looking. Also installed nicely on my "52" 5800 and working without errors. Suggestions = For locality the major issue is info collection. You should not be based only on Navteq provided info. Otherwise you will have a duplicate of the Maps. - You could use Google's solution, having moderators (maybe Navteq, maybe area responsible individuals) watching the user provided info. - You can use wiki provided info (perhaps wikitravel?) = Why not add in the "landmarks" two more fields for address and phone? As i have contacts with phone and position i may just name as a "contact" the landmark i want to use and this would be it. Ok, in S60 phones you have not made this possible yet, but i can see it is in S^3 devices. It is not much work to be included in an S60 update, so i take the chance to propose it instead of loosing time in a different app. = Also, the app has somewhere the coordinates of the landmark, otherwise it wouldn't count distances. Then why not open the "maps" to show me where, or even better, drive me to? = In your Ideasproject there r wonderful "local search" proposals (examples : http://www.ideasproject.com/ideas/3634#comment-1843 http://www.ideasproject.com/ideas/3805 )

Fantastic application for phones not having A-GPS or GPS facility. It may not be appear as convenient as Nokia Maps, it is certainly useful when you want to explore your nearby neighbourhood. "My location" feature would make it a killer app. And locations should be made exportable to Google Maps or other network based services.

I think the choice of name for this application is excellent because it tells you straight away what the application is for - just like it should be!

I installed this app on my N79, since it doesn't have free lifetime Maps navigation anyway. :p It isn't particularly fast in my first couple of tries, and I used it on WiFi at the office. Took me around 5 minutes to get results. I imagine it would fare worse over 3G outside, which would be my option to connect when I would actually need to find a place. Still needs quite a bit of work, but I like the idea and intent.

I installed Nokia Nearby on my C6-01 (Symbian^3, not Anna) and here are my thoughts: - First thing is that on devices which have accelerometer, the app should follow phone's orientation. Currently, it works only on portrait mode, and thus most of the places titles are unreadable. - App is using incorrect character coding. I live in Brazil and most of the places names are shown incorrectly. For instance, "Júlio" is shown as "Júlio" - On phones which have Nokia Maps, Nokia Nearby should be linked to Maps. There's no point having a phone with GPS and not being able to find a place on the map. I know Nearby is an app that aims the S40 market, but as long as it compatible with S60v5 and with Symbian phones, it should use the superior features of those systems. Despicte the above said, I think that Nokia Nearby promises to be a great app. It definitevily finds much more places than Nokia Maps does (at least on my location). Cheers!

This app is works to me, but this app is so simple. Only search nearby facilities, and only in short description. This app doesn't supported Maps View. In my opinion, plus thing in this app is ONLY search nearby few places, CANNOT create new place to Nokia database. So I give 2 stars to this app.
