Hey, the 1.3 build was supposed to fix a crash in Music with Zune Pass music, it also fixed a few for missing/invalid MP3 tags. Do you know if works when you have no Zune Pass music on the phone?
Have exact issue, also same OS & Firmware. (However I have two other Lumia 900 and they both work fine). All have Zune accounts.
Hey this is Stuart from the Product Team. Can you tell us a little bit more about the Lumia900's that work and don't work. I am assuming that the OS and Firmware versions are the same. Is the music on both devices the same? What happens if you switch the Music library between the working and not working Lumia900's?
I re-tried PlayTo on our three Nokia Lumia 900 phones and two crash and one will lay music, however this phone has never downloaded any Zune music. After testing the phone that worked, I downloaded an album from our Zune account and now this phone crashes too.
It seems that DRM content from Zune is causing PlayTo to crash. If I load MP3 content only on the device, PlayTo works fine. If I add any WMA content from Zune the app crashes as soon as I tap the "music" menu item. I've tried against several DLNA players in case that was the issue and it always happens only when there's DRM protected content on the device.
@kferlita - can you please confirm that you are using version 1.3.0.0 of Playto on your 3 Lumia devices. If so, we thought we had fixed the bug that caused Playto to crash when attempting to share Zune Pass music. Maybe there is something in the Album metadata that is causing Playto to crash. Which album did you download that caused the crash? We will try and recreate the crash here as well.
@ronbuckton. You stated that you are using Playto version 1.3.0.0. Just to be sure. The WMA file that causes Playto crash - have you purchased that song/album from Zune or is it part of a Zune Pass library? What song/album is causing the crash? We will try and recreate here.
YES, the version running V 1.3.0.0. I even deleted the App and tried a Soft Reboot [told to hold volume rocker and Power buttons til restart.] Then reloaded PlayTo App and still problems.
@kferlita - Which album did you download to get the application to crash? Was it an album you purchased from Zune or part of the Zune Pass music library?
You asked about album, can't recall the exact album because on my daughter's phone but it was a Katy Perry [Maybe "Teenage Dream" will check when I return home.]
It was Zune Pass content, and was not a specific song. Any Zune Pass content causes the crash. I tried:
• no songs (no crash)
• one or more mp3, no DRM (no crash)
• any one Zune Pass song (tried several, crashes)
• multiple Zune Pass songs (crashes)
• mix of mp3 and Zune Pass songs (crashes)
@ronbuckton - This is really strange. The 1.3.0.0 version was supposed to correct the crashes you are describing. Could you please check the version number by: Starting Playto, then tap the 3 little dots on the bottom right of the screen, then tap "about". What version number is displayed?
Hey guys,
We found one issue with the Zune Music Pass content yesterday.
It seems if a Zune Pass song is the very last song in the all songs list the application crashes. Can you try putting a non Zune Pass song as the last song and see if it works?
I've had and still have this issue on a Lumia 710, even using version 1.3.0.0 of Play To.
I have just renamed a non Zune Pass song to start with "Z" so that it comes last and added it to my music collection and can confirm it does prevent the app from crashing
That is good to hear. An update that fixes this issue is on the way. It is currently being alpha tested and should be out shortly.
Just wanted to add that I am experiencing the same app crash/quit behaviour when using Music library in PlayTo on Nokia Lumia 800. Latest firmware/Tango MCR3 build. PlayTo target is a Sony BDV 990W Home Theatre certified as DLNA DMR device.
A fix was sent to Microsoft labs for certification. It should fix all the music crashes. I will check to see when it is getting released to the marketplace.
The 1.4 version was certified last night and should be out in the next day or two. Let us know if it fixes all your music crashes. We tried everything we could think of to get it to crash in music and it seems quite stable now.
I've removed the non Zune Pass song I'd renamed to start with 'Z' (to make it last in song list) and the latest 1.4.1 version no longer crashes on my Lumia 710
