forgot to mention, I've installed ONS Package to C drive

After disconnecting can't connect any more. And same problem after offline mode.

I had same problems with the old version.

Uninstalled everything I could, rebooted, but it didn't help.

N8 PR1.2

but for previous Ovi Notifications Support Package v1.1.11106, I didn't have this bug,

once switched from offline profile ( and the reader is offline ), the reader is able to establish a connection which is used by "nokiaaserver" and "xmppservice"

with the new "updated" ONSP v1.1.11118, after I closed a connection made/used by "nokiaaserver" and "xmppservice", it will never establish a connection to the two services, which made nokia reader and nokia drop unuseable

exactly same situation for me as well, unless I reboot the phone, does not connect, please help, or let me know incase some additional info is required from my end

no single response from the nokia reader teams,

:/

i've tried installing the old ONSP, and strange enough, it never can reconnect

Hi qfire,

could you tell us if you have installed Qt 4.7.3 or do you know if you have installed some other beta application that might have installed the Qt 4.7.3 upgrade?

i have qt 4.7.3. I use kasvopus, Newsflow, twimgo, linkedin

same problem. also after got disconnected, cant login back. after restart it works again.

yes, i'have installed Qt 4.7.3 and mobility 1.1.3

(didnt sure i've installedmobility 1.1.3, I see it from ovimaps installer log)

maybe the mobility 1.1.3 comes from flow*d or xenozu qml since those apps using smart installer
the other apps from betalabs is the social, ovimaps 3.07, nokia drop, and sleeping screen

can I do something about this ? Or just wait for the next ONSP release ?

Product team response

Hi qfire,

There seems to be an incompability between Qt 4.7.3 and the ONSP that causes problems with reconnecting after a disconnect or after the device has been set to offline mode.

We are working on the issue, and we try to get the ONSP package upgraded as soon as possible.

I have the same issue as everyone above, are there certain apps that if uninstalled would allow reader to connect after going offline?

I have connecting problems also. Sometimes it is working and sometimes it doesnt. When Reader is loading news it does it even when all widgets are offline.

I have the same problem as well. Its a nice app, but very difficult.

hi guys, looks like the CNN International beta for S^3 on the betalabs has the updated Ovi Notifications Support Package, the updated one is 1.01(11120)

after the installation, the reader was able to re-connect itself from lost connection or from offline reader/offline profile

glad to see Reader apps is working "normally" again :D

qfire,
thanks for the suggestion, just install CNN international reload reader and it works. Hope it stay that way as I think this is the rss best reader I installed so far.

I can also confirm that the CNN install with 1.01 is a work around to restoring Reader

so far so good, i just need to test it under non 3g area

can we have the Ovi Notifications Support Package 1.01(11120) installer?

yesterday my N8 require a reboot to get the reader working, after 2 days of continuos connection. It reported 'connection lost', and trying to reconnect take ages. so i decide to restart the phone, and it works.

I thins the new ONS improve connection and signing but still not good enough.

AashafieN8,

Here is a workaround and info on Reader connection issue (however, it is noted that Nokia does not recommend installing outside their "Auto Dependency Installer" which to me does not work as "expected")

If you are NEW like me and have no experience on Symbian, HERE are the list of files that you need to locate using Google.

I tried to look and without LOTS of reading in many posts and hunting around, there was NO ONE SINGLE post that said this to get BetaLabs apps to work on my phone.

To use Bubbles, CNN, Reader etc. on Beta Labs you need to install these:

QT 4.7.3
QT Mobility 1.1.3
QT Webkit 4.7.3

Those three will SPEED up your phone, works much better, smoother, etc.

Now, there are several apps you can install on BetaLabs and they are using a new notification system from Nokia, it is best to also install the CNN 1.1 that includes the updated ONSP 1.01

So, install those QT packages and CNN 1.1 than your good to go and all the betalabs work perfectly in my book and has really made my new N8 purchases for my wife and I much better overall!

Can't wait for ANNA!!!!

Hi all,

Symbian^3 version of Reader has today been upgraded to use Symbian Smart Installer.

When installing the new sis, the Smart Installer will download and install the Ovi Notifications Support Package v1.1.11120 upgrade which should eliminate these re-connection related problems!

Please try out the new installer (http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/nokia-reader/download_and_installation) and give us your feedback if this upgrade fixes the problems.

Can I install on top of current installation or do I need to uninstall the old one first then install the new version? This release is not a new version, am I right? So it is not an update.

its an update to installer file ( the newer installer come with smart installer, which will download the newest ONSP v1.1.11120 ), not an update to the reader version.

I've installed it and then restarted my Nokia N8. It works fine at first, but now the same problem occurs. It's Connecting forever again.

I restarted my phone a couple of times and it works fine now. Thanks for the update!

now stuck at loading again nearly two days now.
Like to install the new CNN beta it involve uninstall of ovi connector. Will it effect nokia reader? Who is behaving fine before 2 days ago?

stuck frequently now...

Hi,

Installation/uninstallation of other applications should not affect Reader or the Ovi Notifications Support Package.

However, if something is broken, re-installing Reader from BetaLabs should fix the problem as the Smart Installer installs all missing components if needed. Hopefully a re-install will help with your problem!

okay will try that, but currently smart installer will result in long delays (preparing installation) and I have to interrupt the process as I need to use the phone.

Hi, ive tried reinstalling the reader but application still doesnot connect even after a restart...I've got the weather widget and Nokia City Lens Installed.

If I try to open reader as a normal application, it works fine...but I cant seem to add it as a widget on my homescreen! Help! :)
