Which communities does Social 1.3 support?

Social 1.3 currently supports Facebook™, Twitter, and Renren.

Note: The availability of supported communities may vary by region.

When using Facebook, how can I send an e-mail to a friend who is not visible from the application?

To send an e-mail to a friend who is not visible from the application:

  1. Go to the Home view of the application.
  2. Select Inbox > Compose > Add friend > Search.
  3. Enter the name of the friend you want to send a message to.
  4. Select Search.

How do I access the Social 1.3 application?

On most devices, select Menu > Applications > Social.

Note: The location of the Social 1.3 application is device dependant. 

How do I start using the Social 1.3 application?

  1. Open Social on your device. 
  2. Select your social networking community.  
  3. Enter your user name or e-mail address and password.  
  4. Select Sign In (Twitter) or Login (Facebook and Renren).

Can I have multiple accounts per community?

Yes. The application supports a total of 10 accounts across all communities. For example, you can have five Twitter accounts and five Facebook accounts, or two Twitter accounts and eight Facebook accounts. The important point to remember is that the Social 1.3 application supports a total of 10 accounts.

To add an account:

  1. In the Accounts list view, select Add account. 
  2. Select a community.
  3. Enter your user name or e-mail address and password.

Once you click Sign In (Twitter) or Login (Facebook and Renren), the account is added to your account list. 

Can I use more than one community account at the same time?

You can only use one Facebook, Twitter, and/or Renren account at any given time. You cannot use multiple Facebook, Twitter, or Renren accounts at the same time.

How can I add the Social 1.3 widget to my home screen?

  1. Go to home screen
  2. Select Options > Edit Home screen
  3. Select a free area
  4. Select Social
  5. Select Done

Which version of the Social application is running on my device?

To view the version of the Social application: 

  1. Go to the Home view of the application.
  2. Select Options > About.

Privacy and Security

How can I help protect my privacy?

The application does not store your password under any circumstance. Once you have logged out of a community, you are required to re-enter your password to sign in again.

Notes: 

Each community has its own privacy policies. Your visibility to friends and internet users is managed by your community's privacy settings. Make sure to review your community's privacy settings, as well as the time of storage of feeds and other information.

If you persistently see the error "Unknown problem.  Please try again later." when trying to login to Facebook with the Social client, make sure "Platform apps" are enabled in your Facebook privacy settings.

2)    Under “Apps and websites”, click the “Edit your settings” link
3)    Next to “Apps you use” make sure that “Platform apps” are turned on

When you use the Social 1.3 application, Nokia stores your International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI), International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI), and user name for reporting purposes. The IMEI and IMSI are also used to determine the service offering and communities you can access.

Nokia uses the data in accordance with the Nokia privacy policy, Ovi terms of service and privacy supplement for the Social application.
