Auto sync isn't working whilst Nokia Suite is running in back round.

What feature of Auto sync is not working? Have you enabled it using Nokia Suite -> Tools -> Options -> Phone Sync, then check any of the contacts, gallery etc and then check Sync automatically when you connect the phone.
Which phone model do you have?
Why do you want that Sync protocol should work when no phone is connected?
