Hello JonathanHartley,
It has been decided to create new requirement to warn user of non supported windows versions: Started editions and XP Media Center edition.
It has been decided don't disabled the installation nor changed anything else related to these OS. Only thing is this warning.
It is safe to install and there is no any loss in your OS.
It has been decided to warm user who has a Windows Media edition and Starter Edition because there was a lot of problems early.
Regards,
Marina
Nokia Suite team
I just got the same 'problem' with the same version.
Wonderful idea, programming your software to lie to your customers, I am amazed that other companies havent tried it. Oh wait, their entire purpose in life isnt to go bankrupt in the shortest possible time.
The way compatibility notices are supposed to work is to notify end users if there is going to be a compatibility problem with the *immediate* release - not to falsify and provide incorrect information, based on the fact that there *might* be an incompatibility with Windows Starter Ed. and Nokia Suite in 2014.
I have written various pieces of software over the years and if I came up with the excuse you just did on this, Marina, I would have been looking for a new job.
There is no excuse for this sort of laziness on Nokia's part. My only assumption is that this has been done to scare Symbian customers into running out in a panic and buying the spavined Windows Phone garbage that is failing to sell left, right and centre.
Is it now Nokia policy to attempt to insult the intelligence of, and annoy the hell out of, every customer they can get a hold of? If so, I have to say, Nokia as a company are fulfilling that ambition with an unprecedented excellence. Its just a shame they couldnt do the same with Symbian, Meego/Harmattan handsets and general customer support.
I'm (sadly) still running Windows XP Media Centre and have been unable to get any of the the newer Nokia Suites to function on it at all. Wouldn't it be a good idea to supply access to the older version of Nokia PC Suite that DID work on older Windows versions? I can't remember now which one I had that did function on XP Media Centre..........
