Nokia is pleased to launch an update of the Nokia Xpress for Lumia (Beta). The app is powered by Nokia’s cutting edge cloud-based Xpress internet platform that delivers new experiences to our customers that go well beyond typical mobile browsing. This upgrade builds on the most popular features including Magazine, Data Usage Dashboard and Translate by delivering new features and significant UX and performance improvements. Highlights of the new capabilities include:

  • Download images –Long press on an image to download and save images to your Lumia device
  • Support of concurrent multiple tabs – this upgrade now delivers the ability to open multiple tabs in the browser so users can keep web pages open to view later
  • Enhanced UX for the Xpress homepage
  • Faster Magazine performance by intelligently pre-caching articles while on Wi-Fi

Nokia Xpress: Save more. Enjoy more. Do more.

Save more.  Nokia Xpress for Lumia offers several new tools for controlling your data usage and ultimately saving more money. The cloud platform compresses data by about two thirds so you use less of your data plan and save battery charge.  In addition, file downloads, like video can be saved directly to SkyDrive for viewing and sharing without using up your data plan.

  • Monitor Data Usage - Data usage and savings are reported as a live tile on the start page and via a detailed dashboard in the app, giving users a quick view of their usage and data savings

Enjoy more.  Use the updated start screen as a jumping off point to the latest that the web has to offer. This update includes enhancements to the Magazine feature that makes it even easier to personalize the start page with your favorite content by presenting your favorite sites content in an appealing, easy-to-use magazine layout.

Do more. Nokia Xpress for Lumia also includes several new and interesting features to deliver a uniquely Nokia experience on Windows Phone, including:

  • In Page Search - tap on a word and discover related content with automatic contextual search.  Currently supported by Wikipedia, Bing and YouTube.
  • Translations - One click language translation is available for virtually any web page.
