I tried many sporttracking products (iPhone/Android/SE). But ST is simply the best!! In my view only the GPS filtering should be improved (maybe with post-processing?). But the big drawback is that Nokia does not want to support it..? You can't even find on OVI App store. I think Nokia must be in amazing financal shape to just ingnoring sports-trend. Even knowing that they where trendsetter in this area (Nokia 5500 and predecessors). .. yes I know. They want to give it away to Samsung ;-) poor Nokia

Greate app indeed! Been using it since I got my new E71. Couple on minor things I would like to be fixed: - Mass upload * Feature where one can upload all the (selected) workouts to the server in once click - Configurable * Ability to configure "Search for media" prompt (I never record media thus this prompt is useless at least for me) * Ability to make "Public" the default choice for all the workouts (it is not a secret that I workout so why do I need to hide it?) - Start & lock the keyboard * A menu item that would start AND lock the keyboard in one go. That is *always* the case for me when I start my workout. Anyway, looking forward to see progress both on the client and on the web!

I've got a few apps I've always known I could do without yet only one or two I knew I would be lost without. Sports Tracker is definitely one of those I would be lost without! I use it everyday to log my "mental escape" walks I do here at the office every afternoon. I discovered ST for my E71 in in December of 2008. I used it at least 4 times a week and watched it grow from an app that had no maps to one that had the maps and tracked my music. Well I received my N97 the day after they came out in NAM. The first place I went was to the ST site to download the S60 5th edition version. Imagine my horror when I discovered they did not have one! I thought I was doomed. :( All I can say is that heavens for Google. I was able to find an article from February 2009 with a link to an obscure site that had the S60 5th version. It took 2 days of searching but I finally found it. The only questions I have are, when will ST be updated to also upload the music tracks I listen to during my workouts, and in the settings for imperial height are we to enter inches or feet? Thanks for a great app!

I'm using the 6210 Nav. I installed this with great ease and it runs first time. I like the tracking, I was looking for something like this for a while for the normal maps service on the nokia so it fits in very well. If you're a person who goes for runs/cycles along country-roads or just through towns/cities. It's great for keeping track of where you've been.

Since several weeks I use this great application during my running and mountain-biking trainings with my N95. Insstallation is easy, storage consumption is low. No problems with simultaneously track-recording, music-playing and photographing. Everything works as designed, even the mappings of the pictures after uploading the trainings. This product may be useful for everybody who make repeated actions and wants to compare time/speed/distance.

I originally downlaoded NST when it first appeared in Beta Labs many moons ago. I have really started using it in ernest for just over a month a I have started running again after only 10-15 years off. Love the app. There are a number of improvemnts that could be made and a number of issues that could be solved. The ability to compare workouts and review improvements. Providing feedback from the software during workouts. Audible distance markers identifying how far you've gone rather than single beep. Audible Distance v. time feedback during workout I have found an issue with the GPS reception when music is playing through Nokia Music Player and NSt is running with 500m laps. Although there as these improvement capabilities and issues I Love this software. Also love the lesser known fact that if your phone dies part way through a workout NST will recove the workout file and be able to log your progress up until the power-off.

This is a fantastic application. The only thing it needs to be perfect is for the routes to be overlaid maps

Still one of the best apps for S60 overall and a unique selling point for nokia phones. Now if only it used the downloadable maps from nokia maps, it would be near to perfect.

I've been using SportsTracker 2.6 for about a fortnight. My iPhone addicted partner is utterly envious. Apparently, there is no comparable background app for the iPhone. She claims that Apple won't permit developers to release background apps. Who knows! It's another reason I love my N95.

I've quit smoking 4 weeks ago and wanted to build up my health again and was looking for a simple tool that could track speed en distance without having to buy a advanced pedometer. NST does this and much more. The statistics are amazing and really helpful to see my performance and health go up. NST even tracks the music you have listened, location of photos(if you took some while running) and heart rate (which requires a blue tooth sensor) This tool really blew new life in my "old" N95 and make working out fun!

Nokia Sports Tracker is definitely a trend-setter as far as mobile applications go. By taking into advantage the GPS and/or accelerometer of certain Nokia devices, it delivers what many amateur and semi-pro runners have always dreamed of: a workout tracking device without the need to buy an expensive Garmin, Polar or Suunto watch. You just stick the device in a secure place in your pocket or armband and off you go, the app tracks your workout. When you get back home you can analyze your performance on your web browser and see your progress. Pace, steps, times... everything will be there. The live geotagging is pretty awesome as you see the world run, cycle, or even ski/snowboard at the same time! You can use the sports tracker for many activities, not necessarily walking/jogging/running. Everything without hassle or problems. The only two complains I have are some minor glitches regarding the GPS' activation (sometimes, fortunately rarely, the device needs a reboot for the app to activate tracking) and the incompatibility issues with Wellness Diary. I strongly believe these two apps should be united in the future. Wellness, afterall, is diet PLUS fitness! "Sum Ergo Cogito"

Went out after work (c.13:05 GMT) adn started Noia Sports Tracker as usual only to be faced with Update Available NST 2.05. Woohoo!! Well installed it and after using NST 1.82 for a while on my N95 8Gb the GUI looks very similar. The Live and GPS icons are smaller and I am used to the maps. Ran the first 12km before I realised that I had not heard a peep out of it (I record a route and re-run using Auto Lap set to 500m and target set to by besb previous time). I removed the phone frm my pocket in the sleeve of my running top to see that it still said Autopause (i have this set to on and the slowest speed available). A couple of seconds after I had slid my phone open to check NST the screen updated and showed my correct dictance. I slid the phone closed again and re pocketed it and repaeted the process a few more times. Each time the screen would displcay teh same information as it had when I had closed the phone when re-opened and refreshed after a couple of seconds. Towards the end of my run I had my phone open whilst passing through a 500m marker and it beeped (I have NSt set to sound only for the lap indicator. I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but it is frustrating. I am used to NST providing the "Lap" indicator sound whilst my phone is closed and 2.05 (on my phone) only sounds when the phone is slid open and not on the low power mode (screensaver etc.) Also I may be wrong, but it seems to be more power hungry aswell as I only ran 14.5km so was out for c. 1.5 hrs and my phone went from c.50% power to threatening to power off. On completion of the workout when I pressed stop I did notice a new Workout Summary screen pops up (nice!). The post workout summary and map screens appear similaer to those in v1.82 except the map downloading seems improved. Also teh maps state Nokia Navteq in the corner. An option to download area maps via the NST website and upload to your phone via PC link would be nice to save time. Need to go on the NST website now to see if there are any changes there. Well done with the new version guys, but there may still be bugs.

All in all, sportstracker is great. I've got N79 with polar belt. 451km excersise total in running and biking, replacing bike computer and old polar. Wish list: "Make it beep", that is: - interval alarms, for example one beep after 2 minutes and two beeps after 1 minute. - alarm if bpm is too high or low - alarm is speed is too high or low - if route is wrong Also sportstracker should understand, that its impossible to jjump 1km aside and then back, but if GPS tells so it must be an error. Seems that the altitude function does not work. Possibility to plan route offline and then transfer it to sportstracker.

N79AE Review. This review will mostly cover the experiences unique to the N79 Active Edition, including the Polar for Nokia Bluetooth heart rate belt. First, I have to thank Nokia Innovations and the NST Dudes (as they affectionately refer to themselves) for providing me with the N79 Active Edition (hereafter N79AE). Regarding the N79 handset itself, detailed reviews have been around for quite a while, so I'll make this brief. The N79AE only differs by adding an arm pouch and the Polar for Nokia heart rate belt (hereafter Polar4Nokia). My first impressions of the handset are very favorable and its S60 3rd ed fp2 is a nice upgrade from my former E61. The phone is gorgeous, lightweight and packed with all the Nseries features, making it one of the best valued Nokia handsets when considering features to the price. At present, only "Seal grey" color is offered for the N79AE. Regardless, at 97 grams, it's easy to see why the feature-laden N79 was chosen for the AE bundle. Very good choice, guys! *The arm pouch.* pros- Well-constructed, attractive, lightweight, breathable backing with a wide, soft and easy to put on velcro strap feels comfortable against my skin. I hardly noticed the arm pouch during a recent four hour long run. When the handset is in place, navigating the menus through the neoprene face works quite nicely, albeit for the major keys only (forget the numeric keypad). cons- Snug compartment makes it difficult to pop the phone out for on-the-run captured media. Putting the phone back into the snug compartment often causes buttons to be pushed on the face and top of the handset, activating things/menus you didn't want and worse, turning the phone off. The phone compartment isn't merely snug, the clear plastic window sticks to a clean handset face like glue. *Polar4Nokia.* This accessory comes in two components; 1) Fabric HR belt and 2) Bluetooth heart rate monitor. The first component is a Polar-standard, soft fabric HR belt. You can find these anywhere Polar products are sold and, for the ladies, can be found in special Polar sports bras. The belts are fitted with two snaps which hold the receiver/transmitter in place and double as electronic leads. The second component is the recent Holy Grail for NST users, the Polar Bluetooth transmitter. When worn, the belt is comfortable and is no different than any other fabric Polar belts. The electrode snap interface from the BT module to the fabric belt is a Polar standard. The Polar4Nokia transmitter activates when it is worn and detects your heart rate. The unit requires a small battery which is supposed to be good for 150 hours of use. I wish it was rechargeable, especially in light of Nokia's hope for a green reputation. My old Polar belts saw up to 1500 hours of use before replacement. *GPS* GPS chipset performance is very good. So good, in fact, that I want to confirm whether or not the N79AE contains an upgrade. I cannot find any specs on the specific chipset used, although Nokia has always used chipsets from Texas Instruments in the past. I'm able to observe 32 channels of reception, with relatively fast TTFF (time to first fix). I recommend waiting a couple minutes AFTER the familiar NST green "GPS ok" light to lock in the max number of satellites for better workout data accuracy. GPS performance so far without using A-GPS has provided me with better data than I've seen with three different external BT GPS receivers I used in the past with my former E61. *Accessing rolling data.* This is going to take some getting used to. I have used Polar wristwatch HR monitors continuously since 1992. The whole point of a heart rate monitor is to make accessible current HR data for the purposes of your activity. So, for 17 years I have been used to looking at my watch for instant HR figures and preset alarms for necessary HR ranges. Presently, this is the only real design flaw of the N79AE as easy screen access takes some adjustments and the phone has NO alarms for HR range values. User suggestions for the current setup are as follows: 1) You must wear the arm pouch on you forearm or wrist. You simply cannot see the data if the pouch is on your upper arm. 2) You should switch the screen orientation to landscape only, disabling auto-rotate. Otherwise, the constant motion of running makes the auto-rotation feature go crazy. 3) You have to wear the earbuds if you want to hear the faint lap tones. The snug arm pouch muffles away even most ringtones in urban environments. I may not have the best hearing anymore but I couldn't hear lap tones, nor ring tones while running next to traffic. Earbuds in with no music playing, problem solved. Still the faint lap tones need to be addressed in future builds. 4) Disable auto-keypad locks. If you want to see your progress with a single tap, you need to disable auto-lock. The N79AE has a nifty unlock slider at the top of the handset, but accessing it gets a little tricky in the arm pouch. *Summary* I'm giving the N79AE 4/5 and not 5/5 stars only because: Difficult to remove phone on run, Access to data on run and No HR range alarms. Otherwise, I couldn't be more happy than I am with this setup. Overall, the N79 on its own is a fantastic representation of why I love Nokia. But the N79AE bundle is a real treat and an excellent addition to one's workout arsenal. When I first heard of the N79AE, I knew I had to have it. Now that I do, it doesn't disappoint. In fact, I love this Nokia bundle and all the potential it offers. Absolutely recommended! More later... -David N79 Active Edition. Scandinavian variant, custom FW version 11.049.251.2 RM-348

Works perfectly - A nice "aa on" would be a combination with the Nokia Friend view - e.g. for ST friends and grops. Grops by the way is a great way to be "pushed forward"
