Thank you for the very welcome edition of application updates in the new version of the Nokia Store.
I'm using Nokia X3-02 (07.16), and have downloaded Opera Mini 6.5 using the store client.
The firmware also has version 5.1 embedded, so I have two versions installed in the same time.
Whenever I launch the store client it recognizes the embedded version as the "installed" version and prompt me to update it, which obviously results in unnecessary installation of 6.5 again.
Please check the "installed" version across all versions found on the device, and use the latest, so in my case the embedded version which I can not update anyway gets ignored, and the application correctly detects 6.5 as already installed.
All the best, Adam.

To continue last report - when only the embedded version is installed (after first launch of the application on a fresh firmware), Opera mini is reported as "not installed".
Installing from within the application 6.5 results to above behavior.
Uninstalling 6.5 (resuming to only embedded 5.1 installed) now results in the store reporting an update to 5.1 being available, installing 6.5 alongside 5.1 (as expected) and so on.
Adam, thank you for the detailed report. I've passed your posting to a developer more familiar with the new application update feature, and he will be adding his comments soon.
Regards,
Jana.
Hi Adam,
I discussed with a team member, and learned:
- The original Opera 5.1 is signed with a certificate from a different issuer, and this is why installing 6.5 doesn't just update the embedded version. Not sure that this can be resolved -- it is an issue with the specific content item.
- As for the "update available" being shown for 6.5 in the Store when you have already installed 6.5 -- a resolution for this is being planned for the next Store client release.
Thanks again for the report.
Jana.
Thank for the quick reply Jana,
Once the wrong application prompt is sorted out, I'm perfectly fine with having both versions side by side.
Glad I could be of assistance and would be glad to report anything that comes along the way, Adam.
Just tried the new version (3.26.0).
I got the update notification on first launch, went ahead and "updated" (that is, re-installing 6.5).
On subsequent launches of store, the update notification is gone.
Good job :)
this also happens with other apps - Maps and Quickam, it used to happen to the Ovi store app itself.
Not a big deal, but annoying.
Would like to dl the new version to my e7!

Hi adam.dagan,
What you report fits with what the developer told me -- 3.26 client doesn't contain a fix for your original problem, so he was surprised when you initially reported that it was gone :-)

Jana.
Hi Paz34,
When the 3.26 Client is officially released, it will most likely be pushed to your c3-00 device at that time. So... it shouldn't be too long before you can get it as well.

Jana.
Hello again,
Just a quick question - since the Fix for this issue won't make it to the production version (updated beta works fine, btw), when can we expect it in a future beta version? (roughly).
Thanks, Adam.
Hi Adam, sorry for the delay in responding...
The developer tells me that it is not feasible for us to attempt to workaround the issue within our Client application -- the problem is reported to platform, so we can hope it is corrected in future S40 devices. However, it doesn't sound promising for your X3-02... :-(
Regards,
Jana.

Hi freego61,
First, please note that this Beta Labs trial of S40 Store Client does not list the C3-00 as a supported device. As such, you should wait for the update to be provided from the Store to update your client to the appropriate version.
In the S40 Store Client, go to Menu --> Settings. On this screen, you can select the default target for content downloaded from the Store. Select "memory card", and make sure to have a memory card inserted in your device.
In general, you should try to keep some space free in your phone memory, so your applications have enough space available to run well. You can delete unneeded content from phone memory, or move it to your memory card.
Regards,
Jana.
